Exhausts that don't hit driveshaft.
Exhausts that don't hit driveshaft.
Since I bought my car in 2004, there was always a strange rattle under the car when I would let go of the gas at high RPM. I bought my exhaust with the car and there is no name on it so I dont know what brand it is. I know the test pipe is perrin since that is stamped on it. I recently jacked up the car and see one of the flanges at the back of the exhaust is hitting the driveshaft. There is less than an inch of space between the flange and the driveshaft. I even see a ring of paint scratched off the driveshaft where the flange hits it. Does anyone know which exhaust systems definately clear the drivershaft and doesn't rub against it?
My JIC cat-back clears the driveshaft with no problems. But on the downside JICs have the 2.5" neckdown on the cat side. Cut it off like I did and weld in a 3" pipe and you'd be set, or like Warr suggests - Buschur exhaust.
I looked at the br racing website and it looks like none of their exhausts have flanges but are just a mandrel bent pipe all the way through. That would definately fix the problem. Thanks guys.

Ours is 3.5" and doesn't hit anywhere. I can't imagine the guys building 3" exhausts should have any trouble at all. See the link in my signature for all details on our system.

I dont have a problem with this exhaust either. I have the older \"slip fit\" style with the old style BR muffler. Im not gangsta enough for the V band or bullet muffler. You just have to make sure you have the couplings situated so they are not pointed at the driveshaft.
my Apexi WS2 clears no prob, makes a beautiful tone and won't get you pulled over by cops either. power? I'll make up the little i lost switching from the tanabe Ti with cams..
The tanabe ultra medallion also cleared no problem.
