Anyone who wants to flame you for having a 900whp car (street legal) that won't break just for starting it, is insane. Oh yeah...and I am jealous that you have a wife that actually likes your car with that much power. Mine cried at a BR stage 1+ which compared to your 900+whp makes my Evo look like a Ford Fiesta.
His car is not even remotely close to being street legal

On the real topic, Im glad your wife likes it. You should let her take it down the track a few times at low boost. Maybe she will like it and want to get one herself

In South Carolina it would be actually if the car runs in S.C. it legal.

I second that.. let her run it a few times

The seat belts dont pass DOT according to the feds.. therefore it doesnt matter what state your in.

Also according to the feds you cant modify the stock exhaust system rendering it less useful, again, doesnt matter what state.

I am pretty sure the whole Evap crap is also required if the vehicle came with it stock, roll cages are usually considered a hazard in a passenger vehicle as well.

Removing the bumpers is also a no-no according to DOT.. you get the idea.

Looks like it would be legal at first glance though.

He just doesnt understand there is more than one way to do things. You could get your car painted with krylon by the neighborhood kids or bring it to a real autobody shop. Both will change the color of your car... one just is a little better

Actually it has to do with the fact that all the hard work and experience of Buschur Racing was able to make my car much faster, much more functional and much more smooth and quiet while making it faster!

I really did not notice that the car was actually more civilized, including not smoking out the back and no longer having that race car like rich fuel smell. I was actually so happy with the inhanced performance that I did not even notice the new civility of the beast. I was just pointing out how odd it was that my Wife who previously had a very negative feeling about me destroying her $30,000 evo and tuning it into a long running epxeriment now was able to immediately notice that something drastic had improved.

I think the point of my post is to give credit to David Buschur FOR tuning the car and for doing such a great job doing so.

While I am very good at tuning Evos and have a good deal of AEM EMS experience there is no doubt to me that David Buschur is one of the best and most expereinced DSM experts and tuners in the entire world. David has a lot more AEM expereince than I do and he is working with them every day and he has a lot of contact with the folks at AEM regarding R & D and new developments.

Also, as a tuner, I like to ask other tuners for suggestions and ideas on how they tune and this is one of the ways that helps me to learn new ideas. I have had just about every significant AEM tuner in the USA work on my AEM.

I dont know why some folks get so excercised and upset about this kind of stuff.

It really seems to **** some people off when I have some other tuner work on my EMS so maybe that is why I keep doing it, who knows.

My 100% focus is stock ecu reflashing and that is what I am expert at. Reflashing stock ecus and setting up 900 whp race cars are really seperate matters. I find it bizarre how some folks fail to draw that distinction.

BTW - just a side note, my car is also sponsored by AEM for what ever that is worth.

Your looking WAYYY to far into this.. all i was saying is that no matter what you car looks like your NOT going to be harrassed for it. I have seen cars with no doors driving through downtown Charleston and im sure thats not street legal but it still happens....

You really need to relax

Sorry It just bothers me when people start trying to claim one car a street car but another a race car. Like most people consider Turbotrix's a "race car" while others like Als is a "street car". They are all obviously pure race cars I mean even mine is a race car... yes I drive it quite often on the street and dont even own a truck or a trailer... but its still a race car.

Wasnt tryin to come off as being **** about it.

Anyways, get back to your wife racing your car again Al!

On the subject of street car vs. race car, all i can say is that I regularly drive my car on public roads

If I could not take it out for frequent blasts down the road to clear the cobb webs out of my brain and relax I seriously doubt I would be spending as muich time and energy on this car as I am

I cant speak for what others do with their cars

My car is highly illegal as far as the "rules of the road" but if some cop witnesses me doing a pull in 3rd gear to 10,000 rpms they will prob take away my driver's license so the emissions and saftey equipment violations will be the least of my concerns

I look at it kind of like people who may own a custom harley chopper with staright pipes must view their motorcycle

The machine stops being useful and practiucal trasnportation and becomes more of an art item and pleasure craft for occassional enjoyment

my wife loves riding in my car but hates me spending the money on mods, of course.

al, we had the babysitter watch our 2 boys the other night and i showed the wife the 2 step on our way to play texas hold 'em at our friends house. she loved it and had no idea it would launch that hard at the track. she told me its not fair because i get to have all the fun driving a 5 speed and wanted to learn how with the evo. i told her to dream on..........

btw, my thanks goes to you for the wife enjoying riding in my car!
