Major Major drivetrain issues, any help is more than apriciated UPDATE!!!!

Ok symptoms, at 40mph a loud howl starts and continues to 60mph and maybe high (we never took it faster than that after the problem started). ro noise at all when you car coasting as if your foot is not on the gas. Grinding/gear noise when you have the car at like 5% throttle as if you are just trying to maintian a speed. Happened after dragstrip with new act 2900. I cant pinpoint the sound, seems as if its up front. I have never heard of a rear diff going out so I almost want to rule that out. So we got the car up on jack and ran it at 40mph for a few secs with rear shaft from transfercase out. the sound went away a bit but the grinding noise was still there. Its like I feel as if I know its the TC but i want to rule out all other parts first. This is not my car im just trying to helpa fellow member and friend. Thanks for your help, oh its a 2005.

Definitely sounds like the TC is done. Have you guys checked the fluids in everything to make sure it is not just low? Good luck.

2900 with street disk, another question, This noise is only while underload, or at constant speed, it is perfectly fine at decel. Is this normal for a messed up tc? Also can you pull the rear half of the tc to get a look at anything? thanks

Damian,

It sounds like the Transfer Case but I honestly wouldnt rule out the clutch. Did you do the install on the clutch yourself? Had the clutch ever been beat on hard before that day?

its my car..yes he installed the clutch. Car ran fine for 3 weeks 500+ miles until it was driven hard at the track. Never had issues on the track. I called TRE and SHep and they both think its 100% TC. I read off the symptons to both companies and right off the bat before i could finish my list of its problems they knew it was TC. 2300 to repair and around 3400 to totally replace it.
