oil sending unit for the oil pressure gauge for the sport gauge pack or the motor?

You will see VERY low oil pressure when the motor stumbles and is at low idle. This is b/c the oil pump is crankshaft driven, if your engine speed is very low then the oil pump is also turning very slowly.

To the original poster, do you ever experience these dips in pressure when you hit bumps or take corners? This is something I watch for in my autox car and I'll check my Defi's after the first run to make sure I have no starvation at any point on the course.

I'd first like to thank you guys for your input. Second like to apoligize as Ive had a very busy weekend and couldn't make it to the comp to check on the forums. I haven't been able to really pinpoint when it does and doesn't do it. I notice it most under low load, 5th gear cruising. Also driving through the city, though in the tighter city driving its hard for me to really focus on the gauge. it jumps down on the highway sometimes 20 pounds from 85 to 60 or even 40 sometimes. I already had an oil pump problem. I'm hoping Precision didn't just fail to fix the original problem...wouldn't put it past him though...this makes me very worried.

took it for a drive today again around town. Seems to do it whenever it feels like it but only after the oil has warmed up. I think i'm just gonna let the thing **** the bed and if i have to get another motor built. Right now I have one built by precision dyno and if anyones following the post "the truth about me and precision" you know this does not make me feel good at all.

Sorry I am just now getting back to you. i have been watching mine for a few days now. I have noticed a little fluctuation around 2400 to 2800 rpm. I am not seeing the large jumps you are but it may have something to do with the difference in gauages and sending units. I hope this helps. Good luck!

If I slowly rev my car through the entire RPM range I get no issues. If I'm in any gear and floor it, the gauge jumps around all over the place. Crappy Stewart Warner sender. Eventually it just stopped working, and no, I didn't blow the pump.....

Did you try grounding the sending unit?

It's grounded through the block. I'm going to try to run a dedicated ground before I order another sender.

turns out theres some leaking coming from the oil pump. Look at the thread "the truth with me and precision" theres pics of it posted up there. The SOB probably never fixed the original problem, or didn't replace the seals. In any case I'm gonna be getting an AMS shortblock in a while to begin cleaning up after the most notorious conartist on this forum.

thats what i figured. i'd have to find a ring terminal that had a big eye before i removed that sender to put the ground on though.

I know that, but somtimes it isn't enough. Which is why I asked if it was grounded. What I should have asked is: Does it have a dedicated ground. my fault, but you got it.
