Oil pressure dipping?

I have an Autometer electronic oil pressure gauge. I recently noticed that at certain rpms(2400 and 3500 in particular) My oil pressure very quickly dips down a few psi, sometimes 10 or 15. I noticed it while cruisin on the highway and it seems to do it during decel as well. I have a stroker motor built by precision dyno and my last pump **** the bed on me(why i built the motor). Anyone know what could cause these fluctuations? I'm hoping its just a problem with the gauge. Has anyone had this happen to them with their gauges? Very nervous here...

When i checked it the first time it happened to be low, es(still looking into that). But i topped it off and its still doing it. Checked it again and oil level is good.

i'm not sure what it is w/evos but my oil pressure always drops REALLY low when i come to a stop. and my defi's are pka so it looks like i have no pressure! my motor internals are stock and this thing has done that, i assume, since new. i've had the guage 2 years and i've always seen that. it certianly alarms me! did they blueprint your oil pump when you rebuilt?

definately check your oil pump. My gauges never do that. It would worry me. I had a 280zx that had the same problem and that led to a spun bearing...and it was the oil pump.

well he said he blueprinted the pump, but then again he said a lot of things he didn't do. Anyone else ever have anything like this happen? I'm probably gonna end up taking off the timing belt and givin the oil pump a couple spins to make sure that it spins freely. Last time the bearing on it went and for all i know it was never fixed properly.

mine does the same thing. where did you tap the sender? if you tapped it into the oil gally near the filter, there is good pressure there, but loads of vibration. the autometer and stewart warner (which is what i run) senders are junk. i would either replace the sender (they are cheap. like 20 bux) or double check the pressure with a real mechanical gauge.

My guage (megan) does the same thing on idle. My eclipse with an autometer did too. I believe this is normal. As far as the dip in the middle of the RPM range I will check mine at lunch to see if it does it too. I have not noticed it but I will pay extra attension and let you know.

Mine has started doing this also, seems like right after I was tuned. Never did it before the tune. My light even flickers on/off, wondering if the sensor is at fault. Put a manual gauge on it holds good pressure at ide. Only comes on when the car stumbles at idle (don't feel the tune is quite right) or coming to a a stop. Have been keeping an eye on it to see if it gets worse. What do you guys think is the deal? I have 272 cams, the vacum loss shouldn't cause this, right?

04 Evo...I had the same problem. I thought maybe it was because of my cams, the light came on at idle when it was warm and my idle dipped. I tried raising the idle, but it didn't work. I then just took it to mitsu, and they replaced my oil sending unit under warranty.
