LPG Direct Injection

Hi guys

Just thought I would mention this because this is the wave of the future. Forget alky, forget meth, forget race fuel - 5 years from now LPG direct injection is going to be where its at.

LPG is compressed 270:1 whilst in liquid state, upon expansion it is self refrigerating (Approx -44 degrees Farenheit). It is currently being injected as a liquid directly into the combustion chamber or intake manifold on some big mining trucks, gensets and a pickup truck in Australia (Holden Rodeo). It replaces the gasoline - the car runs exclusively on the LPG.

It has a high octane (equivalent to 103 RON) and clean burning characteristics. It is also - as noted above - farking cold and I dont need to tell you guys the benefits of that sort of cooling. Finally - its cheap compared to gasoline.

I hear its starting to be used a bit in the US drag scene. Anyone got some further information?

problem is that it still relies on a fossil fuel... it's up for debate how soon we will see inhibitively high prices or a shift to alternative fuels.
