Dynoflash my IX
Dynoflash my IX
I want to get my evo ix Dynoflashed. I want to know if I should get a base tune or custom tune.
My mods are:
Works Catback
Works HFC
Helix v2 Downpipe
Stock IX BOV (I have a TurboSmart Dualport Bov which I prob going to take off so its ez to tune)?
K&N cone filter (going to buy)
MBC (will buy if needed)?
Also if I get flashed can I take off my HFC and put on the stock cat for emissions? Will the car run right? and from what I have read I can send the ecu back to Dynoflash if I need it flashed back to stock and then I can send it back to them and they will put my flash back on?

There is a Dynoflash forum, btw, which is where you get answers to Dynoflash questions.
1) It's too bad you already bought all that Works stuff instead of just getting the Warrtalon package in my sig. Could have saved a lot of money, but oh well, let's move on.
2) Sell the Turbosmart - no reason to use it. Your stock IX BOV is excellent and is one that people like me used as an upgrade on our VIIIs.
3) Don't get the K&N Typhoon under any circumstance. If you want a cone filter, fine, but do ONLY the cone filter, and don't add it until you get flashed.
4) Yeah, get an MBC (Forge UNOS).
5) Custom flash is always better, but at least get a base flash if you aren't near a place where you can get a custom Dynoflash.
6) Yes, you can switch from HFC to stock cat without a problem, but why bother? The point of a HFC is to make some more power while retaining a cat. It's whole purpose in life is to still pass emissions like the stocker.
7) Yes, you can always send your ECU to be flashed back to stock for free, if needed, then get reflashed back to where it was afterwards.

Thanks Warrtalon lol I know I should have got your package. Yeah I was thinking to get the AMS K&N cone because they are local or maby I can pickup one used. Im going to think about the custom tune (how much HP diff do you think base tune vs custom tune) I will get a Forge UNOS. Im going to goto the Dynoflash chicago thing on the 27, 28.
Ok, cool. Yeah, you can get the AMS cone filter, and it will work no problem. YOu could also get a Buschur filter for $80.
People always ask for a HP differential between a custom tune and base flash, but that's not the point. Peak numbers only give you one data point. The REAL importance of the matter is that your car gets a 100% specialized tune customized specifically for your car, your mods, your location, and YOU. It may gain only 5-10whp peak over a base flash, but there could also be 15-20whp gains in other places of the power curve. You wouldn't know this if you only looked at the peak numbers.
