thats your opinion and you are entitled to that. To some customers, money isn't a issue. w/ alky kit and just want that slight edge when confronted on the streets??

And we know alcohol injection kit will help as well. But what if the customer isn't satisfied w/ just stock 8 turbo and just want a bit more? the power under the curve for the IX turbo is much better compared to the 8. thats fact. And there are customers who want that. .

i also swapped the evo viii for the ix turbo. no reflash, just ix turbo w/ s-afc tune. gained about 16whp which is what i was looking for (was about 285whp on gruppe-s dyno, now im slight over 300whp. a slight competitive edge over most viii turbo owners. I thought it was worth it in terms of reliability and overall performance that i was looking for.

Another thing to remember is I don't have a custom tune...yet. I'm riding around on a base flash for 272's and I now have 280's and a different turbo.

I probably won't dyno the car because dyno #'s don't mean s**t. The trap will tell me every thing I need to know.
So you swapped in an IX turbo AND 280s for your 272s?

I had a base flash for 272's and regular bolt ons back in Feb. I added 280's in March and ran 11.9's with the same baseflash. I just added the 9 turbo last week.
I won't get customed tuned until June. I will get the dual stage flash.

I will be eager to find out the results at the track.

SoontobeEvo made a good point, we can't just compare someone runing a 03 Evo8 turbowith a 9.8 swapping with a brand new Evo 9 turbo plus ECUTEK tuning, off course there will be a 25whp gain.

We are talking here about just a turbo swap, perhaps without even tuning at first.

I always had the theory that the Evo 9 are much stronger due to the fact that they outflow the Evo 8 significantly and I never thought that the MIVEC actually does that much of a difference.

There have been a lot of people here comparing spool up times on Evo 8 and Evo 9s and they are very even with the same mods.

I am inclined to say that the Turbo on the Evo 9 is the determine factor on why the Evo 9 is so sucessfull.

On the other hand I am starting to consider the Evo 9 stock turbo to be the most reliable bull**** free turbo. While there is a headache topic about 5 blade, 6 blade,ti-al,white rabbit and all that it looks like the Evo 9 stock turbo will be in most cases a very good candidate for upgrading your turbo, it is reliable, it is cheap and you can find it everywhere.

Nice! But you only gained 2 mph, i think the gains on the IX is not from the turbo alone. Look at MOST WANTEDs IX, its insanely fast and he only has a few mods and no cams! Hopefully if you get retuned it will make even more power!

If you're running an off the shelf flash for cams and a turbo you don't even have anymore.. a real tune will make a significant difference.

That's what I'm hoping for. I might grab larger injectors and try some afc tuning before my reflash. Another thing is I used my old afc settings from my old turbo. I haven't really tuned it 100% on race gas yet. I might also try a bigger fmic. Not many people running mid 11's with the stock one.

i spoke to Chris@ precision today and he told me the IX turbo is definitely a good option for an upgrade and more power can be seen with a tune, so get it tuned so we can see some nice numbers!

Awsome run bro, glad to see its paying off, can't wait for some tunning, then we'll really see some good stuff happening!!! Are you still going to CRAPitol or Mason Dixon drag way? Send me a PM next time you go and I'll roll through.

I hooked up the wideband and went out and tuned it abit with the afc. My old turbo settings for race gas were pretty far off (rich). I leaned it out and hit the local dyno day today. 375whp/386tq.

I figured when I ran 11.79 I had about 355-365 so I should be able to drop another 1/10 and pick up another mph with my new fuel settings.
