you don't need a flex section if you use the factory donut gasket setup.

Newsflash!!! The factory DP doesn't have a flex section!!!

There is a ball/socket type gasket at the point where the O2 and DP meet from the factory (this is what everyone is talking about when they mention the "donut" gasket), this DP appears to retain that feature. Other downpipes (Megan for example) change to a flat flange at the O2/DP junction and add a flex section to give movement.

I've seen two ebay exhausts that didn't have the ball/socket or braided stainless (they're both forms of flex sections). If I recall, the buschur exhausts used the factory flex section.

I could be wrong though.

"News flash".. That's funny, right there.

Damn guys, don't get your thongs all up in a bunch. I'm just giving my input about my
experiences with exhausts. If I knew it would clear the x-fer case on the mr, I'd probably purchase one.

Edit: The "race cat" must ba a test tipe cause I don't see a cat anywhere in those photos.

I welded my exhaust from the downpipe to the back. One piece with no flex with a relatively powerful car. The bolts never came loose and the exhaust never cracked. I would see 900 celsius plus EGTs commonly.

I've had mine for over a year now. The silver evo in the adds is mine. I have had no problems with it all the welds are great, stainless pipes and flanges and muffler, which is 3" btw. I just dyno'ed 348hp and 373tq so it can't be that bad.

the downpipe uses the stock ball style flex joint with springs

So I take it, since it won't clear the ACD, it will not fit a JDM Evo IX?

+1 +1 +1 +1 I totally agree with you here on this. Someone asks for real input and everyone gives the "what you just stated" answer. Some real world "I've got it and...." is what this whole forum lacks at times.

If you don't have 'factual" info then you shouldn't post. The funny thing like voidhawk stated here is most things are made in China and the manufacture stamps their name on it. Yet lots of ppl say "I'll buy the name brand stuff" and have no idea they just got taken for a 400% profit! LOL
