issues after 10.5 hotside, o2 housing, ic piping install

If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it. Me and my buddy installed the 10.5 hotside, 02 housing, and megan manifold on my evo this weekend. Well car fires up fine but when i get on the throttle it hesitates and then takes off in all gears. Spikes to 20 psi but then tapers down to 15 and holds. On the 4th gear sometimes it seems like i get a fuel cut. In fifth gear the car struggles quite a bit to make almost any power. I have a works p2-r flash. Now I have a service engine light after driving the car for about 20 minutes. I'm guessing that I need the car reflashed and that is why it is running in kind of a limp mode. I have stayed off boost since as I'm worried my current flash isn't providing enough fuel for all this extra air flow? Any help please.

Matt

Yep, you'll definitely need a reflash with all those new mods.

Just a question, and yes I am still a noob, but always wondered. The air is flowing faster because of these parts AFTER the engine where fuel and air mixture has already been determined by the ECU. So if the air is flowing faster out, is the engine capable of flowing more air in which messes up the air/fuel ratio? Just curious, i installed a dc sports manifold 10.5 hotside and o2 housing not long ago. I am still running on stock ecu, just waiting for some time off work to mail in flash. My car is faster (1/4 mile time tested) but I know people would blast me for not getting tuned with all these bolt ons. Just thought I would throw this out there. I know even with just a TBE, you need a tune. Just thinking out loud...

Another thought...Since exhaust gases are flowing out faster, turbo spool is different than stock. Does this mess with the ECU? Again, just pondering....

hmm

Mookie thats odd that you have no issues with your car and basically have the same mods as me. Maybe because your running the stock ecu still i dunno. My car is really holding back..it'll boost up but the car doesn't pull at all. I hope all I need is a new flash.

Check the ic piping you installed first for fitament or boost leak. That is the big difference between our installs. Also, do you have a boost controller and a boost gauge. What is the gauge telling you? Still curious about my questions too. Just trying to learn here.

Something is not right with your setup. The car shouldn't hestiate at all.. even with the 10.5 hotside and O2 housing. Check the I/C piping.

hmm

Piping is tight. Checked it so many times. I think basically the car just needs to be retuned. lol 15psi car feels so flat. Plus I've never heard of IC piping throw a service engine light.

I just installed a new exhaust manifold, 10.5 hotside, and o2 housing and I havent had the chance to retune yet, but my car runs fine. I noticed my AFR is just a little leaner than before. I had tuned for a 10.8 before, to be safe, and now it hits 11.2. I know, I know. Retune!!!! Its getting done wednesday if everything goes good. If you have no power after those mods I am willing to bet you have a boost leak. Everytime I work on an Evo we do a boost leak test and find at least one leak. Do a leak test and you will probably find the problem.

Pull the codes and see whats causing the CEL. Double check the front o2 sensor and MAF are all pluged in snuggly.

leak

I checked for leaks everywhere and can't find any. I have good power as it will spike to 20psi on my boost gauge and then taper down to 15 and hold. I had my buddy step on the gas and couldn't feel any air by any of the ic hoses with the car parked. Really strange. When I'm just driving around slowly the car feels really hesitant like its pulling timing or something. I can get on the freeway and punch it hard and it moves but there is hesitation and the power doesn't kick in till between 3500-4000rpm which is wierd. Maf was untouched during the install. I checked the hotside and o2 housing for exhaust leaks too...none. So frustrating grr. I reset the ecu (disconnected battery) I didn't get a cel again until after i restarted the car to park it which is odd. I do have the works P2-R so my boost is controlled by the ecu so if it's detecting a problem maybe it's pulling down my boost?

You cant test IC pipe leaks by stepping on the gas....

Secondly I didnt think you need a reflash with exhaust components? Just intake/cams/etc...

I have done these same mods on many cars and never run into this problem .
It's a nice idea to get it retuned but thats not the answer to your problem.
