Great habit to get into!

I will usually check the Evo every other tank, but my Civic every tank because that thing leaks oil like crazy.

ya know, i had an experience where I dyno tuned my car. checked oil before and after the dyno runs and there was no loss of oil. i drove around town, freeway and streets for about 300 mi. and i was 1 quart low, just below the lower mark on the stick. i still don't know where that quart went. definately good advice to check the oil. my car only has 3k mi. and did not loose oil at all till this happened. i've driven it some 600-700 mi. since and i haven't lost a drop of oil. real strange...

dont feel bad man. My car let go and I am very meticulous with the maintenance. Like I said in my post with my carcked piston pics. These are high strung turbocharged cars. We race them and drive them hard. The motor will give out at some point. Its not a question of if it will. But when it will.

Some get luckier than others. 66k is great milage for your mods. I planned on overhauling my motor at 40k. I figured I would make it that far. I cant rule out that the AEM had a large part in the motor going out sooner than expected. It wasnt so much the tune as it was the extra demand placed on the stock fuel system after installing the AEM. Live and learn.

Cmon....you cant lose 3 quarts in 3 1/4 miles passes. You must've let some idiot change your oil and they probably didnt refill it all of the way. If I had a dollar for every time that's happened to me i'd have about 7 bux. Sorry to hear about the bearing. Goodluck with the rebuild.

I didn't think so, "someone" probably got distracted in the middle of changing the fluid, and didn't fill it all the way up!! Its hard to tell, I will do it myself now!

That's normal, I believe it's because the evo has a lot of oil that doesn't drain as easily such as the oil cooler. So it mixes with the clean oil a bit quicker. The color of the oil doesn't matter too much it's more if it still has some viscocity.

so somebody other than you changed the oil? i gotta say, you are much more rational about it than i would be . i'd be pi$$ed to say the least. if you are gonna start changing your own oil, look into the the kit that griots garage sells. it's a tube that you stick down the dipsatick tube attached to a tank with a built in syphon. you give it a few pumps, go away for an hr, and it sucks the sump dry. no need to jack the car up (except to change the filte).
