Unhappy Read this if concerned about spinning a Rod Bearing.

I have 66K miles on my car, modified since 2K miles on it. I have done spirited runs, autocrosses and permanent road courses. The car held up fine. I changed the oil on my car 2 weeks ago, and did 3 passes at the drags. I then drove it 300 miles since.

I never checked my oil in that 500 mile time frame since I took the car to the drags. It is either I lost 3 quarts in that amount of time, or the oil wasn't put in from my oil change. Either way, the oil was TOO LOW to keep the rod-bearings "healthy". I would make these recommendations to YOU, to save you the time and trouble I will be going thru! I spun a bearing and need a NEW MOTOR!!

1. Check your oil OFTEN!!
2. check your oil BEFORE AND AFTER you do the "strip"

Again, I had 66K miles on my car of hard-driving, but in the last 500, there were 3 passes on the drag-strip. those passes either sucked 3 quarts of oil out of the car or something.

Your dipstick is your friend, look at it!! (that sounds kinda perverted ) Good luck, and hope I helped someone out!

I check it everytime I put in gas. It's a good habit to get into.

Im not sure if anybody else has noticed this but my oil get old very quick it seems like.

I change the oil on all my cars every 3k, on my eclipse the oil would just be starting to get a darker shade of brown, on the evo after about 2k miles I notice it always looks like it needs changed. Both mobil 1 syn.
