? about crushing BOV

Well I am going to crush my 1G BOV but was wondering the best way to do it without damage. From what I have read it seems that you put it in a vise and crush it down where the top is about 1/16 from the nipple. Is this about right or is there something more to it?

Perfect discription, just put a block of wood between the vice and the flange to keep from damaging the flange.

Well since the top is only 1/8 inch or so above it stock that means you are only crushing it about 1/16"? That doesn't seem like it would make a difference.

you don't wanna smash it... too much preload and your valve will never open. if you don't wanna fuss... send your bov to dejon tools and have it modified for the dejon tools leak stop kit and buy the leak stop kit. when it returns, simple install and you'll never owrry about leaks or surge ever again.

Do vendors still carry this bov? I only see the RS kit being sold nowadays.

when i crushed my 1G i put it in a vice with a block of wood like was stated already and slowely crushed it until the nipple was just about flush with the base, just enough to get the hose on. did it on my 03 also and its perfect

The best/correct way to do it is with a vacuum pump/guage, like a mightyvac. Crush it until it takes ~19" to just barely crack the valve off the seat. 20" will get a little fluttery, and over 20 may not be wise. Of course this number may also vary slightly depending on what you have for vac (cams, etc), so some experimentation is still in order...

That's how I've done a bunch of them w/o a problem. The nipple just about touches the step below it.
