Question Why is this happening?

Ok i just changed my oil and i put 4.5qts in and my dipstick is reading really high. I cant figure out why it would be reading like that, its not even on a hill or anything....

When did you take the reading? You will get two different readings based on whether or not the car was cold or hot.

you did change the filter too, right?

Start the car and let it run for a minute, then turn it off and check the level.

yea it was totally cold it sat for like 1hr and yea i replaced the filter and i drove it for like 15 min. I dont see why its reading high i put 4 1/2 quarts in so i know its not high.

I generally put in 4 quarts and it reads perfect. Never put too much because if it does get too high, it is possible for the crankshaft to belly slap the extra oil in the oil pan as it rotates at whatever rpms. This will put severe stress on the bearings. I would drain some out if it is wayy too high.
