Hard to shift.

A while back I had a fourth gear grind at high speeds. I put some Redline heavy duty shockproof oil and the problem went away. The only thing I have is that on idle or when the car is cold it won't go in gear as easy. Do I use the friction modifier from the factory to fix this problem or does anyone have any suggestions?

ya might be a clutch problem... where does your clutch engage on the floor? or at the very other end? might need to adjust your engagement point, or need a new clutch.

Assuming its the gear oil and not the clutch, then you can try making a gear oil cocktail. One of the more popular cocktails over at NASIOC is 50% redline shock proof lightweight, 25% Castrol Syntec 75W-90, and 25% Pennzoil Syncromesh. I've spoken with Redline on the phone, and they say that their gear oil is 100% compatible with other synthetics and petrol-based gear oils.

After I had my synchros changed, I used the stock gear oil, changed it at 10,000 miles, then at 5,000 miles. Then after a few thousand miles it started to grind 4th gear. I even used Motul synthetic gear oil before changing the syncros and it did not work.

I would go with a thinner oil if I lived up north, but in Miami, Fl. it is very hot. That is why I decided to use this product. Once everything is warmed up it shifts smoothly even when I downshift at 95 mph to 4th gear no grindind what so ever.

Some one gave me this advice before, and at the time I was going to buy a tranny, so I said to myself dump that red molasses, if it fails your going to get a racing trans anyway.

The next thing I'm going to do is get the friction modifier from Mitsu and try it out .

That MIGHT work but the friction modifier is for the clutchpack in the rear LSD, not the main tranny. I have had great luck with GM Synchromesh from the Chevy dealer here, although at $14/L it's not cheap but it sure seems to do the trick
