Passed Smog with WORKS Mods!!

Well, Im getting ready to sell my car so I had it smogged today with the mods in my sig (well installed the cat back on) and it passed CA smog with flying colors, the readings were well below the average. I know WORKS had always told me the car would/should pass smog with their cams and tune etc and it did easily. I just figured I would post that way if people especially in CA, if your thinking about modding and are worried about it not passing smog you should have no issues with WORKS mods.

Oh well, thats pretty much all I had to say

what cat was it, oem or works? hmmm... and you passed the visual also... hmmm...
seems like you found yourself a mod friendly smog station. sooo... why don't you let the cat out of the bag, so we can all go there.

Please guys read my post. I clearly said I put the cat back on It was the OEM cat, the cat has maybe 20K miles on it. As far as visual what is there for them to see? Only thing that is actually visible is the exhaust and Ive never had a problem at any smog station passing with an exhaust. As for the smog station, it was a Test Only station as well so it wasnt just any station.

All he did was let the car idle at like 3500 or so for a couple mins then hooked it up and it passed easily. If you pop my hood everything looks stock all the way down to the stock air box.

Why shouldn't a car pass smog with a OEM cat???

EDIT: This would've been a better "story" if you passed with the Hi-Flo cat that WORKS sells

Ummm... Cams with more valve overlap are dirtier and agressive mapping (timing, boost and A/F) could produce more PPM than the factory cat can handle.

This is good info.

evolution888...being from CA you should understand why I posted it. I dont know about you, but one of the first questions I asked WORKS before modding anything was "will this car still pass smog" I know even now trying to sell the car one of the first questions I get is will it pass smog, so I know this thread could help a lot of people who were kinda sitting on the fence on whether to mod or not because of smog.

This is good info.
aggressive mapping will actually make your car leaner and cause less unspent hydrocarbons which could help you pass smog. then again it's not always so simple cuz making your motor run hotter could produce more nox and mo. in the end they only measure hte ratio, so limiting any sort of flow isn't helpful, you must reduce the ratio.

I did not say catback (as in exhaust) I said "I installed my "cat" back on" maybe I should have been more specific or just said installed the catalytic converter!!

I'll just add my whole point to the thread was to make people aware that they could pass smog with a stock catalytic converter and specific mods including cams I know that would help me if I was deciding to mod my car.
