The big difference between the WRX turbo and the Evo turbo is not the actual output flow, the issue is that the WRX comes with a stock wall in the downpipe that obstructs the flow exiting the waste gate flapper creating a huge turbulence when mixing from the air exiting the exhaust turbine. The WRX lacks of the o2 housing.

Wangracing,

The dividing wall on the Works housing is a not a feasible project in my opinion. I think you will compromise relibility by trying to weld a dividing wall.

After all I found out that perhaps the hotside on the Evo turbo actually has a dividing wall already..

Garrett actually did testing on the fact that most Turbos work better if the two are kept separate for three rotations of the exducer.

Yes the exhaust housing does have a small dividing wall. But it is very small. I think there would be some benefit in extending it into the o2 housing. From pictures I have seen, the factory 02 housing does have a splitter in it rather than full open mouth.

Yes the WRX/STI from factory did have a flat plate in front of the wastegate and only had a good opening in front of the turbine exit point. But, we did test a full open mouth dump pipe and one with a "splitter" as we called them and there were measureable improvements in spoolup performance of thr turbo with the splitter. ie. The turbos consistently produced more boost at a lower rpm.

Regardless and back on topic, very much looking forward to seeing the 02 housing shootout!!

You bumped a 2 year old thread

FWIW, I've had the Works on my car for close to 3 years, including a pre-production version. No issues for my car, which has put down some respectable numbers on 91
