Those who have the balance shafts removed ..

guys, i just recently had my balance shafts removed out of my 05. i did get a little more vibration through 3k -6k, but ive got this really bad virbration at 7400k. its so bad that i thought i broke something on one pass at the track. its only right at 7300-7500 rpms. has anyone else had a issue such as this? i used the bucsher kit and had the shafts completly removed not just cut and welded. i do have a ingals engine dampner but dont know if this would help to amplify (sp) the vibrations. any ideas or recomdations? thanx b

I have mine removed, and there is alittle more vibration but not really noticable, it shouldnt break anything. Do you know what broke on your car.

balancer/harmonic dampner on flush?? watch your belts to see if you have any vibrations there.

Something is seriously wrong in my opinion... your assembly should have been professionally balanced to the point that extra vibration should be "hardly" noticeable.

As someone stated above, go back over the install...

Ok sorry I misread your post, yeah as Zeus said above, it should all be hardly noticable, but I dont have the dampner, so that may amplify the effect. Now i can say that I have lost a few bolts here and there, but nothing crazy. Go back through it and make sure.

Good Luck

so whats the gain then? added vibration and shedding bolts? sounds like my harley I used to own (actually traded in a custom for my Evo due to this problem)

Seriously, what do you gain? 10hp? free revs?

rotating mass, revs, weight, hp, etc. BUT if it isnt installed right, no benifits can be gained as in your case. check, check, and recheck the install. something is DEF. wrong. put the balancer back on to see if that helps.

ya, im going to take it back in on monday or tuesday.

althemean, i had a strange constant cladder, or ticking if you will. my mechanic said it sounded like the balance shaft at the rear. so that is why i replaced mine. there isnt much more vibration except for that nasty one at 7300k. i hoping after i take back in its something simple. thanx guys.

In my humble opinion, the biggest gain is in reliability. The front bshaft is a big risk. It spins around 16k rpm. The bearings tend to seize/spin all the time, and when the belt goes it takes out the tbelt costing you a head rebuild, more often than not. The extra few HP freed up is a nice side effect, but hardly the main reason to go through the trouble. If you have solid mounts and 3" exhaust I doubt you will notice any increased vibration against all the background noise. This specific issue this person has at 73-7400 rpm sounds like another problem altogether.

There is no real need to rebalance anything. The balance shafts are not there to balance the assembly. Simply to cancel some of the vibrations any motor normaly has so you don't feel the vibration. It all comes back to pussies buying sports cars, making the engineers add all kinds of useless bull****, as usual.

No extra vibrations here after I had my balance shafts removed by AMS.
