Safe running on track

I had a couple of q's for you guys and I'd appreciate your expertise:

I'm probably not going to the track (WSIR) until July 1, in which case, it will be very hot.

I'm currently running a cat-back, mbc, zt2 wideband a/f ratio meter and safc2--with a map for 91 at 22lbs, and can toggle to a conservative set up at 24lbs with 100--and my feeling is that it might be even safer to keep the 91 set-up and 22 boost but just pour in 100. I'm not that concerned with maxing power....I'm more concerned with safety.

Does that strategy make more sense given 5 hard 25 minute sessions a day with the hot weather?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

Keep an eye on your wbo2, oil temps and intake temps. That will be the biggest factor in killing your engine on the track.

Run a heavier oil like a 20W-50 or 10W-50 and you should be all set. If you are monitoring knock make sure to review your logs from your sesions and look for any signs of knock and either pull timing or run a less aggressive map with more octane.

Have fun!

Yes, keep your boost and tune where it is, and toss in a a 50/50 mix of 100oct with your 91 for plenty of safety margin. 22psi is already pushing it big time on 91oct, but with the 100oct, it should be safe.

Thanks guys, I may even turn down the boost even more and then fill the tank with nothing but 100.

Save a little coin $$$$ - 50/50 is very safe.

Just got back from Willow last night and had a blast!

Warr- mixed 100 and 91 and the car ran great, even in the 100 degree heat. I did shift at 6500 to be safe also.

One guy showed up with a really pristine Ferrari 360 and it looked fast when he backed it out of the trailer...but not when he drove it on the track. Sad.

On the other hand, there was a guy that showed up with a ix mr (with a baby seat still in the backseat) that had no engine mods except for a 3" downpipe (with the stock muffler)and he drove 1:34:xx.....awesome. Oh, did I mention that it was Robispec'd? Nice job Robi! He also brought a Porsche GT CUP car and it wasn't all that much faster.

The only thing that bothered me was my Walbro making obscene nosies when I got below 1/2 a tank, but other than that, I was real proud of my car.
