550 Awhp

My car posted the following numbers today:
550 AWHP
470 ft-lbs
25 PSI boost
101.27F (Hot day in Denver)
3 gallons 91 oct mixed with about 11 gallons of C16

We're not done with the tuning yet and plan on running 30psi of boost. I'm hoping to see over 600 whp. We have the rev limiter set at 7000rpm's right now and will bump that to 7500 rpm's. This car puts down 420whp and almost 400 ft-lbs of torque on 91 octane. The car is still very streetable and a blast to drive.

I've posted the mods several times. If you search under 3240 (my user name)you'll find them. I appologize, I'm not sure how to link my other post to this one.

mate glad to see its all coming together! well done. very nice figures.

cant wait to see it running 30psi mate. have you checked the back presure before the turbo? i know moses over here had some problems with the 3240 on his 2.3. he could only get 1.7bar out the thing even though he had over 2.5bar back presure! dont know if he only had the small housing though.

anyway well done again and who said strokers dont work? LOL

thanks Chris.

Nice numbers. Bringing the car to the shootout next month? I'd like to see it run.

David,
Sorry for the dumb question, but what's the shootout and were is it being held?

Chuntington,
No boost issues yet but I'll let you know if we run into problems as we raise the boost.

We've activated the launch control feature on the Autronic. I've been told by several people that launch control is certain death for the drivetrain. Any opinions on this? Does anyone know if aftermarket parts are available yet for the tranny, differentials, etc.?

The shootout is a race I have been holding in Norwalk, Ohio for the last 12 years. It started out with just 4 DSM's running against each other. Then for the next 4-5 years the car count doubled. Last year we had just over 225 cars entered racing. We had around 20 EVO's on the grounds also.

This year rather than just calling it the 12th Annual DSM Shootout we have re-named it the 12th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout.

The date is August 14th and 15th. The 14th we have an open house, 2wd dyno competition and informal car show. The 15th is the race with quite a few different classes so everyone can fit into a class that will be competitive.

For more information you can check it out on our website, just go into the forums and look under the shootout topic.

Thanks for asking.

It looks like we're maxed out due to altitude. I'm attaching a document from the gentlemen that has done the tuning. Let me know what you think.

thats funny, i always thought that launch control was only going to limit the power, therefore reduce transmition strain!?!?!? i dont know. on the parts, i think there are a few people that will build you a stronger transfer case and box'. as for drive shaft compontents you should be ok as the EVO 8 has a stronger set up then the earlier ones and you guys dont have to worry about the weak GSR diffs so you should be cool. you could go for a aluminum drive shaft. there was one knocking about that replaced 2 sections of the stock set up. being aluminium it allowed more twist, thus reducing some of the strain!

what most of the UK guys do is run the stock setup untill it goes wrong, then do something about it! LOL

hope this helps some, thanks Chris.

PS. which housing has your 3240 got?
