Exhaust options for 2006 Evo 9 MR

I'm a newbie had my car for about 2 weeks now and have been researching and reading and asking and calling EVERYWHERE trying to get some answers here. Basically I have a 06 GG Evo IX MR and want to do a full 3" turboback exhaust. Probably preferably a mix and match of a cat back with someone elses down pipe and someone elses high flow cat, as I dont really wanna do a cat delete because of inspections and such in NY. WHAT FITS? I would like to go with the Perrin or Greddy Evo 2 cat back, and maybe the high flow cat from Buschur racing, but what 3" downpipe will work/fit??? And will the 3 work together just fine with no issues? Help me out here guys, I'm open to all suggestions and info, thanks.

Do a little searching. There are tons of threads on here talking about that.

It would be easiest to just get the full BR TBE. Why mix'n'match if you don't have to? You could even go one step further and get the whole Warrtalon package for a low price and have a very fast IX. Whatever you do, don't just get an exhaust, because it won't help a lot on your IX without a tune and/or MBC.

I searched my behind off, and all of the info seemed to lead to dead ends. There'd be some info in some posts, and then I'd search around at websites to purchase and it would contradict the info in the post... If I'm spending a grand on a system I want to make sure I'm not going to have issues.

im in the same position you are. i was gonna get the rnr full 3" tbe w/magnaflow muffler. but i was recommended to get the 2.75" downpipe which is good until you do a turbo upgrade. the 3" dp sits too close to the transfer case and i think it heat soaks alot more..i think im gonna do the espelsier 2.75" dp, road race 3" resonated test pipe with the espelsier 3" catback. were you planning on doin o2 housing as well?

possibly... I'm going to make a bunch of phone calls today, and hopefully get enought sound info to make a decision. Definitely going to look into the buschur turbo back with there high flow cat, and maybe the Buschur 3" down pipe and high flow cat with the perrin cat back.

Helix version II TBE 76mm
RS-R 80mm TBE
Greddy Ti cat back 80mm
HKS carbon Ti cat back with their downpipe 3''
Horse power freaks 3.5'' goliath TBE(this is whats going on my IX)
RNR 3'' TBE

Those are just a few exhausts that will fit the IX. If you actually did search you would have found tons of info. Check out Gruppe-s website and see what they have, there are a ton of other venders and sites you should check out when looking for an exhaust.

I'm in the same predicament, although I am set on getting Buschurs 3" turboback exhaust with the Magnaflow muffler as I think the Bullet muffler is too loud for my tastes with a test pipe.

im running a 2.75 espelir dp on my ix MR and fitment is PERFECT...no rattling, not hitting anything and no spacers needed for the cross braces in the front

its really a matter of preference, on a stock turbo 2.75 is fine, and between the smaller diameter dp, and ams licp, spool comes on very quickly (around 2600 or so)

on my dynosheet, it shows im hitting al 362 tq at 3500rpm...the car is a beast down low

After a bunch of researching and phone calls it looks like I'm going to go with the full 3" TBE by Perrin, and the forge unos mbc. That's at least what I'm leaning towards right now... Any feelings on this?

I would suggest a cat-back if you want the noise level to remain somewhat civilized. I had the BR TBE w/ cat delete on my E8, and it worked great, but droned on the highway, and spat black crap on my garage floor. If you've got a IX, why don't you just get a nice tune / filter / CB combo and be happy? You'd be in the neighborhood of 300 whp with that.

Just my .02

i agree, performance to dollar cannot be beat with that package. But it seems you want some name brand stuff, nothing wrong with that if you want to spend some extra money.
