Help for fuel system...

For solving the problem of need of fuel of my engine ( i didn't think it needed so much.....) i have decided to build a fuel system of this kind: the pump in the original tank gives fuel to a second alloy tank of 5 litres capacity, that feeds 2 bosch 044 pumps that push the fuel straight to the fuel rail; all the sytem will be done with -8An for the feed line and -6An for the return line.
Is it a good system, enough for about 550 whp, that is the goal i have in mind?
I have some things not clear, the first one about the pump in the primary fuel tank, can i keep the original unit or is it better to fit a Gss342 walbro pump? Second important question, i am correct if i go with the return straight in the secondary fuel tank ( in the highest point possible, for eviting problems ) and from this to the original tank?
Any help will be appreciated....
Thanks in advance.
Gianluca.

Yes, the fuel should return to the swirl pot, as it is sometimes called, and then overflow from that to the stock tank. There are two other threads that were updated today with some related info. Unfortunately I have no personal experience with this kind of setup. I'm tempted to try it, the more I think about it.

Thank you very much for reply....
Do you think that the stock pump is ok for bringing fuel from the tank to the swirl pot, as this should not be a high pressure part of the system, or a Walbro 342 would be better?

Not sure. You'd have to get the free flow numbers for the pump, and compare them to the idle numbers for the main pump(s), since that's the lowest pressure and highest flow they would see.

Ok, thank you, i have understood.
Only problem, i have to find the requested values for the oem pump and the 044s, and i have no idea of where i can search them
In theorical line, if i disconnect the oem pump from the ecu regulator, and wire it direct to the battery, it should provide a good flow, enough for feeding the swirl pot, or better, this is what i hope, i just have a GSS342 to put instead of the oem unit in my hands, but if i think that i have to remove exhaust, propshaft and fuel tank, i'm a little in panic....

What I would do is stick a length of 3/8th line on the pump outlet nipple, stick it in some kind of jug marked off in gallons or liters, and time how long it takes to move some known volume. Some times you can't find a certain piece of information online as easy as you can measure it yourself. The numbers for the 044 at typical pressures should be easier to find, and with some conversions will provide the comparison you need.
