The Hallman has cockpit adjustibility option and Perrin does not.
That being said I use the Perrin one and it holds boost just fine. Some people complain the way the Perrin one works, but it does not bother me. For how simple they are and what they do you will not go wrong with either one. They both adjust the boost and hold it steadier and longer than the ECU controled OEM way.

The unit can be run into the cockpit so you can adjust it with out having to get out of the car and open the hood.

You can also get the Hallman "RX" option. That one comes with a ceramic ball instead of a Stainless Steel ball, with a light weight spring installed. It also comes with the heavy spring if you need to raise boost higher than allowed by the light weight spring.

For a stock WG actuator EVO the light spring would be useless because it only adjusts to 5 psi higher than your wastegate base pressure. Since our WG base pressure is 12 psi that means it would max out at around 17 psi with the light spring.

The light spring is awesome for someone using an aftermarket turbo with external WG. For example with a 1.4 bar spring in my Tial WG I can run WG spring pressure (20.3 psi) up to 25.3 psi max with very fine control between those two settings.

The main advantage of the RX is the ceramic ball. Being much lighter than the stainless Steel ball in most boost controllers it has faster response.

You'll be able to adjust the boost in the cabin, you don't have to pop the hood everytime you want to adjust it.

I just have the regular Hallman MBC, I have it installed in the engine bay.

Once you set it, you don't really have to keep adjusting it though.

Okay, I will bite... Since both ***** are held by the pressure of the spring (and the associated amount of variable pretension offered by the control knob) what difference would the relative mass of the two ***** make again?

Only the $180 Hallmon Pro RX EVolution has in-cockpit adjustability. Most Hallman's are normal ones that go in the engine bay. There is no need to spend an extra $100 to route it into the cockpit unless you're extremely lazy.

There's also no reason to choose between a Hallman and Perrin. Perrin is not a proven, reliable MBC like the Hallman. The choice should be between the Hallman Pro and Forge UNOS. Perrin just makes a bunch of look-alike basic stuff without any significant R&D. They also do not participate in the Evo community at all, which is why I don't understand how or why so many Evo owners buy their stuff...
