50/50 water meth injection power increase?

Hi Guys,

I live in Aus where water/meth injection is not very popular. I asked a local retailer of the Aquamist kit about WI in general and was told that it was only worthwhile if the car was at the limits and intake temps were very high and that it would make little extra power. He was speaking of water/meth in general not his specific brand.

This seems to be in direct contradiction of what so many of you are experiencing with the water/meth kits.

So I am after a bit of positive reinforcement, to convince me that it is worthwhile getting a kit on my car (Evo 8 with cams similar to 272 but a little more lift running on 96ron fuel).

What sort of power torque increase (roughly) should I expect when used in conjunction with a retune (Autronic ecu).

Specifically for the EVO, the torque gains will be much higher than hp gains due to the fact that the meth/water injection allow higher boost which will increase torque down low, but the stock turbo just can't supply enough air up top to make the same increase in hp. The boost taper is just too drastic.

It doesn't give you any power itself. It allows you to run more boost and more aggressive timing than you can on straight pump gas, so in the end you are able to get the full potential out of the turbo on a daily basis without using race gas.

water alcohol injection takes time and ***** to tune, to get power out of it, be prepared to spend a bit on tuning ON A DYNO! Also make sure you have somesort of preferbly flow sensor based failsafe.
Which autronic ecu r u using, the PnP or the SM4?

I'm running the PnP Autronic (SMC) presently, but I'm looking at going to the Motec PnP for switch on the fly maps, that the present ecu doesn't support.
I will be dyno tuning as soon as the tuner gets the piper cam problems sorted out.

Easy fix, have Al tune it, and run a 2.5 gallon tank. Mine has been well over half full since he tuned it months and months ago. But i dont drive the car much. Im about to throw a wide band on it. To see where its at. Im gonna put a 10.5 on it too im just hopping it does not mess up my tune.
