First of all what are you planning on doing with the car, so that way we have an idea what cams are suitable for the type of racing youre gona be doing..

Cam install isnt rocket science but if your not mechanically inclined, DO NOT attemtp to do it yourself as you will end up damaging the motor

Really? Thats wierd cause my friend has 280's as well and it doesnt and it idles like a rotary haha. Plus he has a hard time driving around in traffic sometimes he will stall and forget about taking off on a hill haha.

installation of cams is typically a 3 hr job.

We usually charge ~$300, but were doing in install special with some used (300miles) HKS 272's for 675!

I'm mos likely going with the GSC 264 int/ 272ext. I've talke with several peole who've had the 272s and 280s on the street and didn't recommend them. They said the 264 were much more responsive on the street and that the car was easier to keep in the power band.
The below is a quote taken from Road race Engineering.

HKS Cams
The 264 duration cams are the street cams, the 272 duration cams are the race cams. Everyone is building a "race" car in their mind, sure. But if you care about a silky smooth idle, get the street cams. Don't buy the 272s and run to a message board like a ***** and whine about the lumpity idle. If you think you have a street/race car... get the 264 intake and the 272 exhaust. It is a nice compromise.

HKS forgot to make 272 intake cams (again) last month. They are claiming end of Feb for more.

272 Exhaust Cam

HKS 280 "Race" Cams
The HKS 280's are meant heavily modified cars only. They are very lumpy and most cars would not idle unless you run some type of stand alone engine management system. Upgraded valve springs, spring retainers, and adjustable cam gears are highly recommend to take full advantage of this grind.

Buddy Club Cams
Buddy Club cams are made in Japan and are pretty much the same thing as the HKS cams, just a whole lot cheaper. We have been using them on several of our track cars and they hold up perfect, they look new after over 5k miles of high RPM track abuse.

so 280 is for straight race? 264 intake and 272 exhaust is the best to get but would the stock valve springs be fine? and will the 272's work fine with the stock valve springs and will idle and all be fine with 272's would the car run fine? also if you get cams how is the gain with stock turbo and big?

I run 280's daily ... <3 the idle ... No problems on hills ... Using ECU+ as engine management ... Only recommended them if your going to take advantage of them (i.e. big turbo/ stroker/ etc)
