Custom Flash vs. SAFC-II tune, your experience

I'm on the fence between selling my SAFC-II and just getting flashed at AMS. I'm curious to see the hp differences that people here experience going from my setup to a flash. I'm very aware of the differences in the two methods of tuning, I just don't know if my $500 will be better spent on other mods. (I'm doing cams next summer, so I'll definately get tuned [or retuned] then).

Here's what I'm looking for (Evo 8's only):

-Before and after hp/tq #'s when making the switch (custom flash or mail in)
-Before and after /14 mile times

Thanks in advance.

Flash controls timing, SAFC does not, it is no contest really. Al had a thread on this, you can get the same PEAK power but the area under the curve isn't even close.

There is no comparison. However, there's no reason to spend $500 on a flash either. You can spend $199 (mail-in) or $375 (custom) through Dynoflash.

I went from 294whp/269wtq with my self-tuned SAFC to 305whp/310wtq with a BASE flash (not custom), then immediately ran 12.26@110 on 93oct. I used my SAFC, because I already had one and didn't have to spend money on it, but the difference in area under the curve and total power was immense. Now with custom flashes, it's even better.

The SAFC's best use is when tuning for race gas at the track, but it's not great for daily driving on pump gas.
