I have wondered the same thing. Seems a flash would be good, but if you continue to mod, are you going to have to flash the ecu again and again? For about the same price as one flash, you could just get an AFC, then dyno tune it in the future for much cheaper... not to mention you will get some dyno runs in.

Well, I might be wrong but you will need a flash to remove the the limits that the ecu has. And then the SAFC II to tune all your mods

This is true. Without the flash, chances are you will fall short becuase of the rev limiter

guys go with ecu plus...safc II is good but you cant control timing and it has limited options, with the flash every time you get a new mod you have to get it retuned or pay a $50 mail in flash. With ecu plus you can control timing a/f, get you 1/4 mile 0 -60, and a millions other things you can data log with your labtop and tune on the go. I just purchased it and got 25-30 more horse then a flash. www.ecuplus.com

I really like that ECU+ I think I may look into getting one....

Is it fairly easy to learn to tune it myself if I am a fairly smart guy with the right equipment and access to a drag strip?

yeah you dont even need to be smart its idoit proof. You dont need a drag strip either you just need a straight road with no police. Another feature i forgot that i really like that it has is a build in dyno, so you can see what kind of number your putting out.

SO my best bet would be a preliminary flash from like dyno flash to support bigger injectors for the GT3076 RNR turbo package and remove the rev limiter and an ECU+ for tuning? At least that's what I gathered from the site am I wrong?

Oh sorry about hijacking the thread. THE SAFC-II netted my buddy some good power in his 03 Evo, but they are right you will still need a flash to use it properly.

If you read the entire thread replies, I think you'd realize by now that ECU+ is the way to go instead.

I know that, but an ECU costs an upwards of $1000 and I don't have that much money but a flash from dynoflash for $200 and SAFC-II for $275 and I'm good to go.

If you read the entire thread replies, you'd realize by now that we are talking about ECU+, not ECU in general.

www.ecuplus.com

$600 I think or around there.
