Thumbs up Cure for Passanger side Rattle

For those of you that have a rattle on the passenger side near the windshield, I think I solved the problem. I went to the dealer yesterday and we found that the exterior stripping. The one that runs from the bottom of the windscreen along the roofline is loose. They are going to call Mitsu tech to findout what to do.

In the meantime they gave me some black putty type material. I applied it to the underside of the strip in a couple of places near the bottom of the windscreen (near wippers) and it seams to have done the trick. They called this stuff dump putty. Im sure you can get it any auto store. you only need a very little amount.

Good luck

took my car to the dealer to address the passenger side noise issue. we took it for a drive and they did hear the noise in the front and back but did not know its cause. the dealer said 3 new evo owners have complained of the same thing.

they called the mitsu tech line and mitsu is aware of it and will be sending dealers a tech bulletin in the near future so dealers know how to correct it.

if i hear anything i will send it along.

Since I have applied the Dumb putty to the Windscreen trim, I have not heard any rattle. It takes all of 30 seconds to apply. I am still waiting for an official response from Mitsu

if you don't mind, could you take pics of where you applied your putty? i'm gonna try that tomorrow, but its definitely good news hearing that mitsu will look into fixing this.

edit:
nevermind, don't need the pics. ARGH FINALlY I FIXED THE PROBLEM, thanks SO much for the info... i've been tearing my hair out trying to find out what was wrong, i even looked at the schematics of the dash about to take it apart!

For my fix I just used transparant scotch tape and taped the flappy down and it worked, i'm going to go get some putty to make a better fix. But scotch worked OK.

I have the same problem and it is driving me nuts. Thanks for posting now I know what is wrong. I first thought that it was my windshield wiper bouncing in the wind

unfortunately, the rattle is back... I think it maybe the plastic cover that runs along the bottom of the windscreen just under the wiperblades.

If you tap on it near the far edge close to the fender it makes a clicking sound on the glass. I think this is coming through to the cabin. Im working on it and will keep all posted with my findings

yeah mine makes the clicking noise when i push on the plastic part under the wipers. I'll live with it until someone finds a real fix for it.

same noise

I have the same clicking up by the passenger side window. Did anyone ever get the final fix from Mitsu. I am scheduled to take my car to the dealer next week, but I think so far they're clueless. They took it for a ride and agreed that there's a noise, but they don't know what to do about it yet. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Mine does it too. I found the outside passenger black window trim(on the A pillar) is loose. If I push it in tight the problem goes away. Of course it comes back. From what I can tell it only does it in the cold weather. I never noticed it on warm days.
