Lessons learned ~ 2.3 stroker w/ stock turbo
I'll be bringing my block down to JAM later this week for a Stage 3 build. I just wanted a little update on your car before I blow few grand on mine. How's the JAM set-up been so far? Have you had any issues with your block this past month? How's the oil consumption been?
There's been no oil consumption and the car has been running like a champ.
The only problem is the gas consumption (but that's due to me not havinig any self-control)
You will definately love your stroker and they do great work

eh it's cool that you share this valuable info with us. let us know what happens with the next iteration of mods (turbo???).
btw 340 340 on a dynapack is like... nuts isn't it?

340 340 on a dyapack is most comparable to a dynojet. The car is a blast to drive so numbers aren't really that important.
I know, my car is actually at AMS Right now with getting my 2.3 stroker motor done. I have their 50 trim turbo installed and put out really good numbers on a car that is flashed, 93 octane and methanol with all supporting mods. I can't wait to get it back, probably on monday I should have some #'s with their kit. Finances suck!! LOL.
I have no clue as to what #'s to expect. but now I am at 499 and 416. I know it will be over 500 but I want the torque dam it!!! Keep us posted!!

The biggest factor, as I see it, is what are you looking for from your car. I wanted a car that would work well at track days and not require me to rev the snot out of the engine to access the power. I am not looking for 600hp or anything close for that matter. I want a reasonably safe 400hp that I can track for 30-40mins at a time.
Another thing that I want to throw in is that the reliability is completely based on build quality. Oil consumption is completely based on build quality. Power is based on build quality. I am lucky enough to have a very well built engine which makes good power without alky or racegas on low boost and conservative timing.

Update to the surging issues:
The problem is in high load situations only. Moreover, its really bad with the A/C on and climbing hills in 5th. It will surge in every gear except 1st but it is controllable. After looking at logs anything under 50% throttle and more then 16psi will result in surge with high load. If I go WOT there are no problems. The more familiar I get with the stroker the more I can keep it from surging. My hypothesis is the turbo is stalling from a back-up of air at the throttle body and causing a back-up of exhaust gas that is blowing my spark out. This has caused a p0300 and p0304 to be thrown. The car is still ***** fast and I haven't had a peep out of it.
As for the oiling situation, I am running 20W 50 synthetic blend and I change it at 2k intervals now. No oil consumption or hiccups of any sorts. The car stills runs like a dream (except high load situations mentioned above) and it's currently awaiting a 50 Trim install.
Please don't hold your breath for numbers from the 50 Trim because I want to pay off my credit card before I install it to give me motivation to pay it off as quickly as possible. I normally pay cash for all my mods but the AMS 50 Trim Groupbuy motivated me to get the kit ASAP.
