Nearly everytime I've had an exhaust bolt back out, it creates a small path in the gasket that eventually gets bigger and bigger. It may never get any worse, but IMO eliminating the annoying sound is worth the few bucks for a gasket. Good luck!

Possibly the flange is uneven. You should have the flanged milled down very slightly like .010 thousandths or get a belt sander to make sure surface is flat against the head. When those manifolds are welded I do not think they manufacturer takes into consideration the fact that heat causes metal to warp.

Just check it with a straight edge before you install the gasket so you don't have to buy another one. Any machine shop should be able to mill it for you quickly and it shouldn't cost too much.

Now i have a leak there and the one in between the manifold and the hotside
Damn it! Im gona have to order new gaskets from ..How much power do you guys think im loosing between these 2 leaks??

how bigs the leak? Can you hear it, see it, feel it????? You're probably losing about .5 hp unless it's a leak you can actually see/hear/feel/other. If it takes someone else to let you know it's a problem, it can't be a very big leak.

You probably aren't losing near the hp through the leak as you could be from a burnt valve, or other serious mechanical issue that overheating can cause.

Evil Evo,

After seeing your sig. I don't think your loosing any.

In any case...you might run slower if you fix the leak. J/K.

Check for straightness on the mating areas since it overheated.
Could be warped causing it not to seal.

I love you Miguel, but in all seriousness, this thread is completely pointless.

You've started no less than 3 threads about exhaust leaks.

- This one
Here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=205792
And the original: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=205518

I fail to see any reason for there to be 3 separate threads for this one issue even if it happens to be in a new place. It's still an exhaust leak, and you're still worried about how much of a power loss an exhaust leak will cause.

Firstly, just keep the individual issues in the same thread as the problems are so similar as to be considered the same problem altogether.

Secondly, what difference does it make how much power is being lost? Just fix the leaks instead of wasting time starting new threads about it, and you'll instantly gain back any power that was being lost due to the leak, whatever amount of power it happened to be.

hahaha, dude, you don't know exhaust leak til you've seen my car.

Ask scott about it, i'm sure he remembers, mine was just completely shooting out the o2 housing. Hell, it got so hot that it arched the stainless, and i've had to get a new one.

FYI: fix exhaust leaks PRONTO, or replace more parts later
