bolt-on GT35R turbo for Evo's...

Well, I was trolling fleabay and found this thing...

bolt-on Gt-35R turbo

Very interesting. I am curious what housing they use and if this suffers like that ATP kit with ineffiencies, although their website sells the ATP stuff as well, so I wonder if its just the turbos off the ATP kits being sold separately.

Anyone run one of these?

Thanks!

Its an ATP Housing, or at least a knockoff of it..

I think the issues with the ATP turbo kit are likely due to the stock exhaust manifold and the route the exhaust flow has to take through the housing.. I'm sure with the right tuning and an aftermarket header, it can be improved..

However that is not a complete kit, its just a turbo with the ATP housing on it.. You are missing the wastegate, O2 housing, oil and coolant lines or adapters, Intake pipe (or coupler) Lower intercooler pipe (or adapter), etc.. etc.. Figure after all is said and done, you'll end up spending around the same money as a Buschur GT35r kit and we can't be sure it'll perform as well..

It was a nice concept and I really wanted it to do well, I was really interested in their product early on. Hopefully there is something obvious that is being missed causing it to perform lower than expected.

Mali - Oops, I typed in kit on that link - I meant turbo, fixed it!

I always thought the issue was by making the housing a bolt-on mitsu, they sacrificed flow.

I cannot agree with you more - the ATP kits were on the top of my list, but I am leaning towards AMS more now!

Having looked at an ATP kit in person I think the poor machining tolerances also contribute to lag as they must $%* the exhaust flow.
