They changed the turbo without even going into the ECU to see if there was a problem. That's odd I would assume that the ECU is send ing the boost actuator some bad message causing it to only boost 8 psi. (my assumption)

yeah sounds like it only running on the WG spring, no boost control. I would check the boost controller and ecu.

There was no fault codes when they connected the laptop to the car! THey told me that they cant reset the ECU, it can only be upgraded or replaced!

Sounds even lower than stock wastegate spring pressure, but thats probably what you would have to assume. Did you at any point try to install an aftermarket boost controller??? Either way, if the lines for the solenoid are backwards, it will not boost past spring pressure. Also, check the wastegate actuator arm, this was actually bent on mine and needed to be replaced, under warranty from the dealer. You can run a couple of tests that the dealership runs, disconnect the wastegate line and see if you overboost, you just have to be careful and realize when you are sky rocketing past 30 psi, if it works then its your lines, if not then your wastegate actuator may be busted.

We can't even run 8psi - 11psi is the minimum. How did you know it was 8psi. Your sig doesn't say RS or MR, so you didn't have a gauge in stock form. Did you add a gauge? Did you screw something up during the installation? Did you try to install anything else?

I have a hard time believing they replace the turbo AND MIVEC (wtf?) just because your boost is low. That doesn't sound right at all.

We need more info.

I disconnected the wastegate line and it didn't overboost! And the dealer changed the wastegate! I have DEFI gauges. I instaled a HKS BOV and a blitz SBC i-color boost controller That was 2 months before I had this problem. The reason why they changed the MIVEC is they found that the MIVEC doesn't advance it shows 0 on the computer, they told me it should be 15. The car is without the BC and the BOV now.

Finally the problem is solved. It's from the ECU and the dealer will change it. They don't know why this happened! They have 3 evos at the dealer with the same problem! So how can I avoid this from happening again in the future?

We have the same problem here with an evo 9.
He modded his car with a BOV and a Suction kit, lost alot of power, Evo techs checked it out and didnt know what it was for a long while, and now they say its deffinetly the ECU, and that the ECU doesnt somehow work with modds which causes the ECU to get damaged.
Anyone got any ideas?

The title of this thread you started stated that the Evo was stock. Now, you post that the car had an HKS BOV and Blitz boost controller on it for at least two months before the problem started. This is far from a stock Evo, and I call BS on it that your stock ECU was causing the problem.

I think some of you guys are screwing up your car with bad or incorrectly installed mods, and are not fessing up.

I say take off the crappy, flakey boost controller, ditch the riceboi blow off valve, install the stock diverter valve, a decent manual boost controller (bypassing the stock boost solenoid), then check the wastegate and all vacuum hoses. You'll get your boost back without some retard changing your ECU.

BTW the person who said the ECU must be changed is an EVO mechanic from Japan ,mitsubishi sent him because so far around 4 EVOs have the same problem.

I don't know, I've never had that issue, and just because your car is stock now, doesn't mean a problem couldn't have occured while it wasn't stock. Also I don't think that the IX is more problematic than any other EVO models, it's just that there seem to be so many new and fresh faces buying IXs, unlike VIIIs that were bought a lot by former DSMers and others with experience with turbo and AWD cars. This does not seem to be the case with the IX. Just look at some of the questions being asked by new IX owners, I mean somebody asked why there is a bigger space inbetween 70 and 75 mph in speedo, WTF!
