LC and bigger duration cam

Hello,

sorry, another cam thread ! but I read all the threads and haven't found what I'm looking for...

How the duration comes into the game with LC and overlap ?

I mean 110i/110e on 264/264 cams gives a certain angle of overlap... but the same Lobe Centers on 272/272 give a bigger overlap !

So, do we have to retard intake/advance the exhaust a bit when changing to bigger duration cams to mantain the same overlap, once one found an overlap setup reversion safe and with a good spool up ?

For example...

now I'm running 264/264 110i/110e:
if I ipothetically will change to 272/264 to retard a bit the intake valve closing and trying to find some more hp on top, will I have to retard intake LC to have the same overlap I have now, that is to say from 110i to 114i ?

TIA.

Bye...

Hi sparky,

it's not with hks cams... by the way these are general concepts, valid for every brand of cams...

Correct.

Reducing overlap involves retarding the intake and/or advancing the exhaust. This may or may not be of benefit.
