Clutch selection?

Looking for input on which clutch to go with for my 05 MR. Daily driver with about 340whp and planning on some occassional 1/4 mile runs. Considerations include quality as a daily driver and will hold up at the track and price. I'm consindering the Exedy single, also the ACT and the Exedy or Cusco twin. Also what about a used clutch like a twin that could be rebuild if nec, too much risk?

Anyone that has used one or more of these please reply. Thanks!

I was in a similar situation to you. I went with the exedy hd twin. It is very driveable and I feel like it will hold up to the power I have and some. where in boston you located I am also in Mass.

RRE's "No Name" clutch. You can't beat the performance for the price.

I knocked .2 off my 60's and .3 off my 1/4 ET just by getting this clutch.

I expected this kind of response, and yes I did search and read and read and read but I still haven't found anything speficially for my situation. But can see how it seems like i didn't.

I'm just south of Boston.

I've had many ACTs for my DSMs and they were fine, but I'm concerned about the ACT for my evo as a daily driver, I've read that pressure is stiff and can change as it heats making it a less desireable daily driver option. The exedy I've heard is good but expensive, and you have chatter and maybe whining issues unless you launch it often. I haven't found as much about the exedy single with still seems like a good option, is the power the only reason to go twin? The cusco seems fine but less proven in the evo based on posts.

Is the exedy twin twice as good as the ACT b/c it costs 2x as much. How about exedy single v. ACT?

If you have nothing of value to add pls post elsewhere, or I can start a new thread called "make me fast" and you can flame that one. Thanks!

Hey "W" i know Warr has run both the ACT and Exedy , and if i am correct he daily drives his (might be wrong). See what he has to say about them he is pretty reliable.

Thanks, last I heard from him the ACT he was using was spent and he went to the twin. But I think he drags more than I plan to but still good info. I'm more concerned about street than strip but I want a clutch that functions well when driving hard. If money wasn't an option I'd just get the Exedy twin but I want to see what others have experienced first....

Thanks guys.

I would not recommend going with an Exedy Hyper Single, if you will be choosing a clutch from that range just go to the Exedy Twin Plate. We also offered the Gruppe-S Lightweight Flywheel at 10.5lbs that we offer as you saw .

Gruppe-S
