how to achieve 425WHP evo IX??

hey boys and girls...

as the title implies, i am looking to achieve 425whp out of my evo IX...i already have the basic bolt ons...and the god damn mod bug is biting hard...the doctor suggested that the only cure is to modify...for now my goal is 425whp...

Looking for:
*reliability
*drivability
*minimum forplay (ie Turbolag)
*i wanna achieve this horsepower without very high boost

what turbo kit do you guys suggest that fits my needs best?.
please feel free to ask me to clarify anything...incase i ve missed something

thanks in advance

Respect,
Moose

i have TBE, AMS LICP, Works Drop in filter, Blitz EBC and a piggy back...my tune is scheduled end of this month...after all the parts are installed...

a friend of mine with the same car is running ~340whp and after driving his car..it was nice but still not very satisfying..power hunger is my disease...

i want 425whp...or something in that range...for 2 reasons:
1) i have driven a 420whp evo 7 and loved it.
2) i think that will calm the hunger for now.

thanks

What mods do you have currently?
Larger intercooler, cams, head studs, alky or meth injection.......I don't see why you couldn't hit 400 whp on the stock turbo with the right mods.
EDIT: just saw the mod list....... add a larger FMIC, intake, cams, head studs, alky kit, and an exhaust manifold.

Best way if you ask me slap on a GT35R and you will have 400's on plain old pump 93.

425whp as a goal doesn't make sense. Try to disregard that 420whp 7 you rode in and try to stay with the here and now while being practical. The reason I say this is because 425whp is out of the range of the stock turbo or even stockish turbos WITHOUT RUNNING MEGA H IGH BOOST. That was one of your prerequisites. You can do a BB 50-trim and run 93oct en route to 420-430whp with all the normal supporting mods probably, and that will be without running insane boost - maybe 23/24psi. The turbo will be laggier than stock, but not as laggy as a huge GT35r.

You can claim that you have it, but when somebody with that exact amount of horsepower with an equal hp/torque curve races you, you can blame it on a number of things when you lose.

Such as:
running on crappy 91 octane gas
boost leak
wrong gear
bad clutch
bad gearing
misshift
ect.

However, it's probable that you can achieve 380hp with the stock IX turbo. You're going to run a massive amount of boost and have supporting mods, but the reliability and efficiency of the turbo diminishes becuase it might be out of bounds with the efficient airflow the turbo has.

You'll probably upgrade your turbo, in which your lag will be greater. However, you'll hit that horsepower but a bit later in the powerband. I'm running a GT40 on my gsx and it hits 19psi at 4krpm. I find that slow considering i like short quick sprints and fast throttle response that came with smaller turbos.

But when you build for one thing, most likely you'll sacrafice another. Good luck.

AMS BB 50 trim kit. On a properly tuned Evo IX it should hit 400+whp on pump gas at ~24psi boost. Depending on your supporting mods, full spool in 3rd gear will happen between 3500-4000 rpm.

You mean more like 4500rpm if you look at the dynographs. 3500-4000 is with a stock turbo...(based off peak torque on dynographs).

ok no offense to whoever said get a gt35r but did u read his post? he says he wants great response and little lag, a gt 35r is completely opposite, u could get to bout 425
if u use a 20g and use straight 272s as your cams with the other supporting mods and remember hes got a nine so they get horsepower happy quickly
