Im going to be in the market for a new clutch soon, as the OEM one sucks nuts and somehow I still have it with 48000 miles on the car. I have been looking around for a new clutch with a good TQ rating and one that is affordable, my plans for the car include a gt35r kit, cams, a 75 shot wet, alky and full bolt ons. Im looking for around 500 whp. But my main concern is having a burned out slipping clutch and not having the cash to pay for it, so im replacing the clutch first before I get into any more serious mods other than my TBE and the rest of a generic stage one upgrade path. Just looking for some reviews from people who have this clutch. I would be getting it with a lightweight steel flywheel.

Its the third one down, the Strip series 1620 clutch kit.

Thanks for any constructive input.

I have never heard of anyone running this company's clutch. Therefore, I would advise you to stay away from it. Many people have sucess running ACT, Exedy, Cusco and Tilton.

I think your best bet would be a Tilton.

I have heard good reviews about tiltion, but 1500 for a clutch is a pretty expensive bullet to bite. After the install 2k for a clutch is alot of money. But if they really are the best i suppouse I should just get a tilton... Their twin cerematialics are rated to 600 ft/lbs of tq right?

Im unsure of their actual tq ratings but yes Tiltons really are the best from what ive heard. They have an impecable reputation.

i have a similar style clutch disc (6 puck) with a 2800lb pressure plate. its basically a clutchmasters stage 4. i doubt that the stage 4 clutch kit your talking about will hold the power of a gt35r. secondly NEVER get a aluminum fly wheel with a ceramic (6 puck) style disc. it will warp the fly wheel very quickly.

dont go cheap on a clutch. clutch is one of the most important things.

get one to strong you break everything, get one two weak and you wasted a bunch of money on labor and a new clutch. do your research find the best well known, good brand clutch, bite the bullet if its expensive and do it right the first time.

**** this coming from a guy who had a 1G AWD DSM, ACT 2600, and never once had the thing work right. from multiple pedal assemblys, blowing slave cylenders, getting that longer push rod thing or what ever... ate up my TRE transmission cuz it never disengaged completely... it was a nightmare!!! do it right the first time please!!! *****

VIP Garage in sterling, Virginia highly reccommends the competition brand clutch. All they work on are Evos and DSMs. I trust their judgement.

From what i've been told, the owner of the competition clutch company used to co-own or work with clutchmasters.

This is correct he did use to co own clutchmasters. I used his twin disc on my honda and I loved it, unfortunately they dont offer a twin disc for the EVO sucks for them missing lots of business.

We highly recommend them. We have been using CCI product in various applications. From our drift car to street EVOs. Great performance from a great manufacturer.
