every evo is different...some are sronger than others.

your boost is going to peak around 3500 rpm and then taper down near redline. that's normal. if you dont like it...change your turbo =)

ok, but you guys all make it sound like its some mystery as to why they are all different. If there is a significant difference, I think it can be tracked down to only a few differences.

I kinda thought thats what I had said:

Machining tolerances (not engine only, all other components)

Assembly tolerances (see above)

Break in procedure at factory (motors are usually broke in before installation)

Break in by owner, dealership, test drives, etc.

Gas quality, atmo conditions, etc.

What he is describing is the ECU varying the "octane" value. IF this number leaves 255 hex it starts to derate the car. Resetting the ECU resets this value. The real question is why or what is making it do this.

Have some manners.

Everyone has their idea why some Evos are faster than others, but no one knows for a fact what is causing these differences in power.

Nice nub-like post. Yes there are a million variables and some Evos are freakishly strong, but there are always reasons. Throwing your hands in the air and calling it voodo and magic is just not bright.

Think about it, if there were these vast difference from car to car do you think mail in flashes would work?

you guys seriously are debating the stupidest thing you can about a car! the fact you think every car ever built of the same model should be identical down to how it runs and drives is so incredibly mind boggling, it is just... WOW. talking about a noob-like post? hahahahaha. just end the conversation, you make my head hurt.

you know, teh womenzez like intelligence, and getting laid by teh hot womenzez comes from them liking you, thus them liking intelligence is directly related to them liking you, and unfortunately you just dont have the gift of intelligence. so, id take another look at yourself and your internet facade, then tone it down a bit until you gain some knowlege and such. thanks for your concern though

I'm starting to accept the fact that so long as the ECU is in there the car will pull timing whether knocking or not. The car is very inconsistant - some WOT pulls are intense and some are weak - even with W/M spraying. One thing I have pinned down is the car seems stronger soon after warm-up.

As far as what does it take for the ECU to run completly in low octane mode with 93 octane gas and simply reset with the control-Alt-delete (battery disconnect) is beyond me, but a good portion of this can be reduced with tuning and mods like alky

I myself find that if i let the car warm up, I do a couple of 3rd gear wot pulls and its meh fast.... then after the 2nd or 3rd pull its zoooooooooooooom, it feels like the turbo just needed a practice run before it can unleash

that feeling is all in the ecu and its tuning/self adjustment. my car does the exact opposite, simmilar to the person above, even though its 16 years old, it still works on the same principal
