About to install exhaust....

Ok I'm about to install my JIC catback this weekend and my car has 9k on the clock so far. I want to make sure i'm prepared so are there any specific tools I will need? Suprisingly enough I've never put an exhaust on a car. My last attempt was with my old 95 tsi and with just hand tools made it nearly impossible until I brought it to a local muffler shop. I know the evo exhaust is much less complex because it basically goes straight back but do you think there will be much rust with 9k on the clock? I'm also going to have to jack up the car and this is my first time even working on my evo besides the boost gauage I installed. I plan to just jack up the rear of the car, are there any specific jacking points I can use. Will the rear diff work or is that a bad idea? Also where's a good place to put the jackstands? Thanks guys!

Just go buy some ramp and reverse it up the ramps. Its alot easier since its only a cat-back

Jack up at rear diff, put jack stands at rear jack points outlined in your manual.

WD-40 on the bolts at the cat and let sit for several hours. You may need some lubricants to free the rubber hangers at the muffler, but some are able to free it by just prying it w/ a screwdriver.

Make sure you have a big enough wrench for the downstream O2 sensor. And, if you have a big enough storage area, just unbolt it from the cat and leave the rest of the exhaust assembled. Much easier than trying to break all those other bolts free.

PB Blaster is the best for loosening stuck, rusty bolts. WD-40 is best for lubing up those god damn hangers.

Yeah I thought about the ramps but I don't know yet. Can I actually jack up the car from the rear diff. or will it damage it?

BTW: does anyone know that exact bolt sizes on the catback and the o2 sensor that way I can make sure I have the exact sizes ready?

Torque wrench, big socket wrenches (or air tools), jack stands, wd40, and someone to help you!

you wont damage the rear diff by jacking it up from there but ramps would be a great investment if you plan on doing more work on your car in the future

I think the O2 sensor is a 17mm if I remember correctly but Im not 100% positive

good luck

Ok well I just got my catback in the mail today. Needless to say my clubhouse wasn't too happy to pick up such a large box. Anyways I am very amazed with the qaulity of this exhaust! By far the best choice I could have ever made. True three inch all the way through, 100% stainless steel, and for only $520 shipped.

Now here's where the problem lies. I'm going to be installing this exhaust on Saturday and I thought that it came with a reducer because this exhaust does not neck down to meet the stock cat. Will a true 3 inch exhaust bolt on to the stock cat? What should I do? I live close to AMS so I don't know if they stock any. Where can I get a reducer before Saturday? I'd really hate to do this because it will change how the exhaust sits on the car because reducers are quite lengthy. Any ideas?
