Did I MUFF up my car?
Sent this to a friend to see what he thought and I think I am SCREWED!!! But nonetheless, we will see what the concensus says.
I did the cam today. First, the timing marks are towards the front because the hole that says EVO is where I put the dowel pin. Correct? Anyway, I started at TDC, followed the instructions from EvoMoto. Zip tied everything and such…But when I went to put the cam in to install it at TDC, it turned out like the pic. I rotated the crank and that is what came out to be TDC. The Intake cam looks good but obviously the exhaust cam is off. Also, I torqued the cam gear nut to 65 ft lbs. HOWEVER, using a straight edge, it appears that the two cam gears are offset 1mm at the most. Not a lot but enough to make me upset. Anyway, I didn’t go much further. I put the Cam Angle Sensor and the housing back on…Well, the 12mm bolt closest to the firewall BROKE!!! Now I have to try to EZ out it. I wasn’t putting hardly ANY pressure on it. In fact I was using a SHORT 12mm boxed with no leverage just to get the thing on there. It spun once it mated to the housing…I backed out a little bit and it fell out.
Tell me honestly…Am I SCREWED?! And tips or tricks? By the way, I used to the cam tensioner tool how-to on the forums. Made my own out of the M8 X 1.25 rod. Someone help!!! If you're local, you can swing by tomorrow and we can get a 12 pack and work on it! Just don't tell me I have to take the timing belt off and put it back on!!!
