new intercooler installed now a noise pleas help
Hey guys i hope you can help me out with this. Ok i have an 06 IX and i recently had a vspec greddy intercooler on there with injen intercooler pipes i wasnt happy with the setup so i bought a Rspec greddy intercooler with all the greddy piping. I installed it all to the directions also i installed the greddy upper pipe as well i know its for an evo 7 but i capped off the extra hole on the upper pipe. Now the stock j pipe coming from the turbo had to be removed and greddy gave a new pipe to bolt on the stock j pipe had a little nipple coming off of it for a vacuum source that went to the waste gate greddys pipe did not have this so greddy gives you a t fitting to go from the waste gate to the boost controller. Now with that all done i take it for a ride go to hit boost and let off the gas it flutters im like damn must of put the bov (stock evo 9 bov) on backwards so i check it yup its back wards i go totake it for a ride after i fix it and now when i get into boost it makes this high pitch whistle ex.. it sounds like if you blow up a balloon and squeeze the ends it makes that whistle sound thats what it sounds like. So i did a boost leak check and found nothing. Checked everything again it still makes the noise the only thing i did was install the intercooler and the only thing i can think is the problem is the bov broke and its leaking from there or it has something to do with the t fitting greddy gave me to use from the waste gate anyone please if you have an idea help me out. thank you.

lol, that description of your sound had me crackin up, seriously though, check all gaskets and fittings again....... its the only stuff you changed right? i know intake gaskets can whistle.........
hmmm....
Sounds like when you changed the i/c alot of other things needed to be done that the previous i/c didn't require. Check those places in which you "capped" off and also the new lines to the wastegate/tubro etc to ensure all your connections are fastened firmly. I am sure you installed the fmic kit properly but there might be 1 minor mistake which is giving you this so called "whistle" noise. Regardless, I would imagine that it will be an easy fix once you diagnose the problem. Hope this helps out.

I am thinking that an issue with your current bov would be a great educated guess. You might as well pick up a super rare jdm arc bov and stay baller status, I mean whats the worst that can happen? The only thing I can think of is that your car makes the same whistle noise but has a super rare jdm arc bov. Just playing, what I meant was borrow my bov and see if it works, if it does your problem is solved. Have fun and if things get interesting ring me up. My arms are always welcoming of a good hug for a friend in need.

try leak testing the whole thing. you obviously put on lots of couplers and lots of clamps. make sure none of them are angled and leaking make srue they're all seatch correctly and clamped correctly over the pipe bead.
I wonder if it has to do with the Greddy Pipes? You have them on now and so does aznxdragon30. Also BOV, intake and MBC have been swapped out. Same result.

I talked to Rjsdxm the other day. He called his friend from AMS and he said the gasket from the intercooler pipe that connects to the turbo is bad. That particular greddy gasket leaks and he has since swapped it out with the factory gasket and his problem went away. I knew it was something simple. Hope this helps out for those who that are having the same issue.
