Is there anything that i need to worry about if i wanted to run c16? My car is tuned via ecuflash on 104 with mods in sig.

is there any reasons why its not. The guy i bought my old evo from used c16 on track days for road cross. He was telling me the only effect was that he had to change the 02 sensors after about every five races. Just trying to see if anyone else has used it.

well im not to smart with cars tell you the truth, but your A/F ratio will be all messed up,and on c16 you can up the boost a lot,so if you up the boost for that gas then the car will basically serve no purpose cus its tuned perfect for the 104,and you start adding higher octane, boost etc...gonna mess it up..not sure tho...i wouldnt do it

Get a retune for it, then run it every day. Compensating for higher octane is not safe by raising boost alone. RETUNE IT!

You are ok!

If everything else was equal but the fuel.

The C16 has more octane and is less prone to detonation/knock than the 104 that the ECU was tuned on originally. This is obviously not the ideal situation as the slower burning fuel would necessitate the ignition timing being re-optimized. But in no way will this harm your engine my friend. It would actually give you a safety margin.

This may be a bit over simplified but.. you can always go higher with the octane rating but never use a lesser lower octane fuel than what the car was tuned on.

^^ bingo...most people run 100 oct on a pump map at the track to improve their margin of safety while running the car hard..

the only thing you would have to worry about are your 02 sensors and cat (if you are running one) since the fuel is leaded

do you just not have access to 104? I dont really see a point in running c16 since you are not tuned for it and it is leaded...i would stick with an unleaded fuel if i were you. O2's are expensive.

Mike,

I found ALWAYS beneficial no matter what to increase your mixture to a higher octane mix. My cars has ALWAYS been tuned for 91oct and I normally go a few points higher octane wise. I still gain averages 2-4 miles depending on the mixture

Knowing you car, I think that your best option here is the 110oct. You are already tune for 104oct so you are not too far off. You don't want to overkill it with C16.

Unless you are tuned for C16 I wouldn't even mess with it. 111 oct will give you plenty.

This are some facts for you:

Our Evo 9 ran 107mph in Tucson with only 2 gallons of 100 oct added to 1/2 tank of 91oct but it went 111.95mph when I put 6 gallons of 110oct to half tank of 91.

I recently took my Stealth R/T TT and gained 3 mph and shave .3th of a sec by adding a tiny ration of 3 galons of 110oct to an existing 16 galons of 91oct.
No many people bother to give you much detail of their runs, I always do, that is what makes it more significant and relevant.

You and me we already raced at the same track back last year(before and after you cooked the clutch) when you and me both had the Evo 8's and we also raced this year when we both had the Evo 9s.

I have done all the pertinent test, I spent hundreds of dollars going to the track and doing private test over and over. I am 100% certain that your best choice will be 110oct. Stay away from C16.

Speaking of racing, are you coming to Tucson SIR this Saturday?, let me know, I will be there as always
Carlos
