Tranni removal tricks OMG????

I am in the process of ripping out my tranni on my 03 Evo... it seems like everything is out if the way (no bolts, sensors, harnesses, nothing...). However, the tranni will not let go. as far as I can see it seems like the clutch is still holding on to the flywheel. I believe the clutch is an ACT (2900 maybe?)... it came in the car and it is deff a heavy pressure plate. I tried holding the fork and using a flat-blade to pull the bearing, but this did not do the trick...

Anyone have ideas or useful hints. I can literally rotate the tranni about the flywheel.. this is why i believe it is the trow-out bearing not disengaging (clutch seems like it wont let go of the flywheel.

Thanks...

EvoMoto's Clutch removal/install guide (Go to step #21)

You're having issues with the "Wedge Collar", but I'm sure TurboDan told you that

Those are the exact instructions I followed... however, I still cannot seem to get that thing to budge. My tranni did grenade on me (which is why im taking it out)... It was still running fine, but has holes in it. Idk what is broken yet, but any other tricks?? I can't seem to get it apart.

Use a bigger screwdriver :P

I ended up using a large pry bar, with a pipe wrench on the end of the handle. I'm sure there are smoother techniques out there, but if all else fails, get a bigger tool

However, your large pry bar may do this to your wedge collar:

Is that an ACT clutch? Also, my LARGE screwdriver already did some bending... idk. I wasnt even beating on it when it happened, but tranni has like 45k miles i believe... idk, its been sitting because of my laziness. sitting for months now ... I want my car back, so ive been going at it, but i feel like ive gotten no where. i can spend 2-5hrs on that thing and try all sorts of things and get no where, just more beat up, tires, bruised, cut...

Get an extra set of hands to help you with the clutch fork pressing when you are trying to pry the wedge collar. Now, by "Pry Bar" I don't mean "Big screwdriver". My pry bar is about 3.5 feet long, and I used a 1 foot pipe wrench on the end of that. The pry end of the pry bar is almost an inch across.

My clutch in that pick is OEM.

Are there any tricks to pushing the fork... I would assume the object is to push the top of the fork (part that sticks out of the bell-housing) towards the passanger side of the car since that's where it goes when you push the pedal down... Is this true? I swear, I either interpretted EvoMoto's directions wrong, or I am just stupid, but I think they said to push towards the driver's side of the car.

I had that problem with the HKS double plate clutch. We had to take mine out the backwards way. Literally go on the opposite side of the throwout bearing and take it out bolt by bolt, then pry the **** out with great HULK strength. Its a pain in the butt, but it will work. Good luck.

Note, my HKS had some extra sleeve covering the throwout bearing that would not allow us to even engage it in any way.

1st you need to remove slave cylinder,2nd you need to push all the way toward the drivers side,3rd you need to put a few bolts back in to pull trans back to motor as that is your whole problem in trying to release and lastly follow directions in Stew's 1"st reply and DON'T use a PRYBAR,just a flat blad screwdriver....
