People running 91 & Meth/Alky, come on in
I've searched and I'm just curious what kit you're running and how much power your making with it. I'd prefer #'s on a Stock Turbo Evo. I don't care whether it's an 03 GSR or 06 IX, I just want to see numbers. Also, please mention how many lbs of boost you run daily.
Thanks again,
Arbi

LOL Arbi ... I still think that going with 91+ Alky is only good for drag ... I still think you should finish off your Stage 1+ before considering stuff like alcohol ...
*shrug* but thats just me bro
91+ Alky on a road course would be expensive and dangerous ...

Thank's for the input bro. I mean, stage 1+ is basically sitting in my room waiting on my downpipe to arrive to install everything else.
I'm just curious how much power people are making on here thats all. I know stage 1 isn't going to be enough for me.

I put down 348whp and 357tq on a mustang dyno on my '03 with the stock turbo. I ran it with the alky out on the road course in Parhump which is a 3 mile course, and used a half tank of alcohol per 25 minute session.
- SMC kit trunk mounted
- Tuned by Al Fredman twice, once with alcohol, second time with methanol
- Maximum dyno numbers(combined) 331whp/364tq on 91oct on Mustang dynos from Vividracing and IAperformance
- Car runs 26-28psi but I have ran it up to 31psi.

Thank's for the input Carlos.
Just got one question for ya:
Any reason why you switched from alky to meth ? Difference? Which would you recommend and why?

TTPengineering uses tons of methanol flow on their MR. A friend of mine Trevor uses the equivalent of two #15 nozzles on his Stealth but again that is just a comment.
Back to the subject, I switched to methanol for a couple of reasons:
Methanol is much cheaper to buy(less than $2.5 a galon) vs the pure alcohol which can run up to $12-$14 a galon average(Home depot, ace hardware, etc)
Secondly and according to one of my friends and pioneer of alky systems the Methanol has a even greater capability of cooling(approximately a 5% greater than alcohol). My friend Trevor used Alcohol since 1999 on his Stealth R/T and he had fantastic results with boths(alcohol and metyhanol) but ultimately Methanol prove a bit more efficient.
If you are planning on getting a SMC kit don't even dare to order the 2.5galon tank, it was once thought to be the right choice and ended being impractical for the most part. The one galon tank actually does better for most users. There is no guideline about how long a one galon tank will last because it depends on how much boost you build everyday however I can tell you that the 1galon should be plenty.
My last tip for you is about where to get the alcohol cheap. Well, the cheapest way is a 55 galon drum but obviously that is not practical unless you have a decent storage area.
You could get a gallon of alcohol from local stores but their prices are a bit high, I highly recommend getting the 5 galon drum that Ace hardware sells, it cost $39.95 for 5 galons but you can talk to them for a 10% off if you are in the military.

Carlos and everyone, thanks for the input. Greatly appreciated.
Now for the guys running straight meth, are you on stock motors? I mean, this can't be daily driveable right ? ( i mean straight meth and not a 50/50 mix with 91 ) or would it be just down right insane due to pricing?

Its better to run an injection system rather than race gas everyday because of the cost. Anyone running it here in AZ has not had any problems that I am aware of. I would have to admit, other than my clutch, it's my favorite mod to date...
325whp/335tq (stock 16G w/10.5) on mustang dyno
24-25psi/100% meth.
Stock motor and daily driven with no problems for over a year and a half.
On average, one gallon of methanol usually will last me 3 gas tank fill ups. Daily street driven, not track racing of course.

methanol, ethanol, IPA are all alcohols.....R-OH. The hydroxyl -OH group attached to the compound makes it an alcohol.
the alcohol you buy from homedepot, ACE...is denatured alcohol. its ethanol/EtOH/grain alcohol PLUS fouling agents like ketones, methanol..... to make it undrinkable
latent heat of vaporization of methanol = 3340 btu/gal
latent heat of vaporization of denatured alcohol(majority EtOH) = 2378 btu/gal
thats ~40% in cooling!
