Well as most of you know I bought my first EVO as soon as they were in Ohio, it was a 2003, red. We beat the crap out of it developing parts and such. I then bought my white RS and sold the red car to my brother Daniel. The car never ran what it should have, it was plagued with ignition issues, AEM bugs and other things. The car has been parked for over a year in his garage as his attention has been on driving our black car that just went 8.95. He had also picked up a theft recovery that he put together and drove all winter with our Stage 4 on it. Anyway, he sold the theft recovery car a month or so ago and has brought the red car out of storage.
Forgot how nice the car was. Not too many red ones around, car is perfect with about 6,000 miles on it. He put it back together with our Stages 1-4, AEM EMS, Stage 3 Two liter, Stage 3 head, Revolvers and our GT35R kit. He also put the stock fuel system back in the car and had to remove the fuel cell we had in it at one time. He's been driving it and wanted a fast daily driver, no race gas car.
Before I go further, when the car was plagued with the misfires/AEM problems we barely managed a 10.9 at 134 mph with it. This was on C16 at about 32-34 psi of boost.
So, now that the AEM problems-bugs have been figured out and we have a real ignition on the car it is a problem free fun car. On the street it seems to pull like mad.
He's had it to the track a few times and has run some 11.0's at 126-128.
I agreed to go last night with him and Trent to Dragway 42. First run he logged the car and I made some changes. I was actually pulling timing out of the map from where I had it, so it was getting less aggressive than I had it on the street.
Anyway, he busts out a 10.90 and then backs it up with a 10.88. Trent gets in the car and duplicates the same 10.88. The MPH on the 10.88 was 130.02. The car also ran another pass (I don't have the slip in front of me) that was 131 mph.
His goal was just a 10.99 on a car he drives everyday to work on pump/alky. Needless to say, we're all pretty happy with the 10.88.
The car has the front and rear bumper beams out of it, no spare tire or jack. Other than that it's complete. Stock wheels/brakes/Nitto tires. Ported stock intake manifold and our 65 MM throttle body. Race FMIC, 1000 cc injectors.
Now we are going to put some race gas in the car and run it. Daniel wants to get on that top 10 list
BTW, the boost was just hitting 30 psi on initial load from the shift, after that it was down to 27 psi.
Have a good day.
