Wow!!...i also have an 05, and when i replaced my IC piping there wasn't really any oil in them specifically the lower pipe...now when i replaced my intake their was quite a bit of oil in it...Seeing this i might just go ahead and purchase a catch can just to be safe.

Think about it...If you found oil in your intake pipe, that oil is going to go somewhere sooner or later...

I've had a Perrin oil catch can on for over 2 years, and have never had anything collect in it. I like the insurance, but I'm guessing that not all engines blow oil.

It all depends on how your catch can is set up....think about gravity...the stock line from the valve cover to the intake is going stright down allowing oil to go through the lines to the intake pipe, turbo inlet, turbo outlet, LICP. If the line is somewhat leveled or anything higher than that of the vavle cover opening then the oil has nowhere to go and will sink back into valve cover.

Thats why it is rare to find any oil after the lower intercooler pipe. I took off my UICP just to check for oil and found no traces of oil in those pipes.

Seems logical. I installed the Perrin can per the instructions - over in the corner nearest the passenger side firewall (find a pic here). And assuming the oil comes out of the valve cover and into the intake with the stock line in place, then the Perrin can is right in the line of gravity.

My point exactlly...i know the weapon r catch can sits on the strut bar...higher than the valve cover feed line...and that residue is oil that tried to make it up while going uphill but never did...

The reason you guys are finding oil in the pipes is because the seal has been hurt and is leaking. Usually associated with overboosting the turbo...Which will soon lead to complete failure of the turbo.

overboosting...well i have had nothing but stock boost on my car until an after LICP install 25lbs spike for about 2 seconds...

BTW, the oil that i am finding on my car is being fed from the intake pipe from the valve cover breather line...unless the oil is leaking both ways from the seal on the turbo!?!?

And are you talking from experience as to your car making 389 WHP on the stock turbo on race fuel???

If you still run the line from the valve cover to the intake pipe you will get oil in the LICP. That isn't rocket science.

If the turbo thrust bearing is failing you will also have blue smoke from the exhaust.

Well I dunno where that crap is coming from, but it was all up in my MAF sensor. I've been using a stock intake and filter forever, so I don't get it at all. I'm sure it made its way to the turbo and what not. hopefully theres no damage to it. But when I saw it, I knew it wasn't good, and I was afraid for my turbo. Judging by the amount of crap in my intake pipe and MAF, I'm afraid there may be some damage. Anyone more knowledgable about these things care to chime in? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Never had any blue smoke come from the exhaust. My car is in pieces so I cant exactly go start it now. But I'll check the turbo out tomorow and see what I find. (Crosses fingers).
