EVO VII - Overheating
EVO VII - Overheating
I have a JDM EVO VII and i find it overheats very quickly.
Any ideas as to how to solve this problem, could it be that the ECU turns on the fan too late?
Please help.

I would assume it's the thermostat if that has not been addresed already. GL.
look at the thermostate or the water pump. mesure the temp of the upper hose and the lower hose, they should be about the same temp if one is realy hot and other cooler you probably have a flow problem. then you just need to find what is cauing the problem.
You could have a small water leak some where.
A little water leak can over head your engine. Specially in your neck of the woods.

...or your head gasket could be bad...a bad hg will pressurize your coolant system, and this will cause the radiator to work improperly --> aka overheating
Things to look for:
--Are you overheading when sitting in traffic, but it drops soon as you start moving?
--After the car is warmed up and driven, is the radiator fluid overflow full?
--Check oil and coolant - can you see a film in the coolant or is your oil is frothy?
--(CAUTION HOT - use a few rags, and watch yourself) - take your rad. cap after driving, does the system burp?
You could have strectched the head bolts, which will cause the hg to fail.

I did a long run today and also four 1/4 mile runs, the car never overheated.
Weird I expected it to overheat.
I will continue to monitor especially in the traffic situations.
I think the thermostate was changed, the fan was connected properly, the resovoir used to bubble before but it no longer does that.
But i will try all the items mentioned, thanks

Sounds like stretched head bolts --> bad head gasket
I had the same issue from running hard @ 25 psi, and lots of 1/4 runs. My car did not overheat until I was on the way home after the events.
Take care of this ASAP or you could warp your head.
