It may considering that if something happens to the tranny and u try to get warranty work on it, they will know by the VIN# that the car came with a 5sp and they will blame the failure on you or the person that installed it, mitsu will find anything to void the warranty, i wouldnt take a chance

I would say most def yes it voids it, however if the dealer did the swap there is a slim chance they may honor the warranty but Im not sure.

Seriously, what do you think?

You can afford 30k+tax/lc but not 33k for the MR? Do you really need a 6sp?

How long have you been saying - when I get my Evo? Seems like forever - and still you have no Evo. Am I missing something here?

FWIW -- From South Coast Mitsu:
EVOLUTION IX RS $27,999 INCLUDING DESTINATION CHARGE
EVOLUTION IX GSR $28,599 INCLUDING DESTINATION CHARGE
EVOLUTION IX SSL $31,299 INCLUDING DESTINATION CHARGE
EVOLUTION IX MR $32,999 INCLUDING DESTINATION CHARGE

EVOLUTION 9 SE GSR=$29,999 PLUS TAX AND LIC
EVOLUTION 9 MR SE ONLY FOR $33,999 PLUS TAX AND LIC

buying a 6speed tranny will end up costing you like 4.4k+ (thats a lot)

no one who bought an MR would really want the 5speed because most spend the extra dough to have the 6speed. if they wanted a straight on drag car with 5 speed they would have just bought the gsr.

actually i get the ix se for 30,000 OTD and the mr for 33,800 but idk... tough choice...the rason i got the prices is because i got a mebership to Directbuy and they waive the handleing fee and i also have a employee dicount from mitsubishi that takes off 2750 dealer invoice price...and then there is also the solid trade-in of trying to get mabe a grand for the old caravan...if we get 1k for the minivan then it will be a mr but till then im ganna have to downgrade to se...W/E i guess i should be happy getting a evo to begin with..

You have job, and poor usage of the English language.

Something keeps telling me - we all have heard this before...

18 y/o
Pizza Delivery job
Living at home
30k+ car
$$$ insur
$$ up-keep

Stop kidding yourself, its too much car...

Why not stop asking ridiculous questions - like making a 5sp into a 6sp, just because you like to shift that one extra time - gearing is almost the same in the 5/6.

Are you planing on auto-x or road racing? If the answer is no, your wasting your money, pick up a 5sp!
