ATP 3071R and supporting mods for 400whp

I know I know the ATP 3071R has been discussed alot and not in good way in more than one instances. But the thing is that i got a good deal on the turbo so I said what the hell lets give it a shot. I just want to know is it capable of hitting 400whp and holding without power tapering off. I am used to my APS twin turbo 350Z and its got power everywhere Love the Evo hope it won't disappoint with this kit and the following mods....

I will be installing the kit sometime next month. I am getting all the supporting mods that i am listing below :

Apex-i Power FC D-Jetro
fuel pump
780cc injectors
FPR
dc sports manifold
HKS 264 cams
evo 2 exhaust
K & n Style filter
Blitz dual sbc boost controller

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Please don't flame me

Thanks

should be close. I have no idea what "evo 2 exhaust" means. I'd ditch the DC manifold and just get a ported stocker or a Full-Race instead. You'll definitely want a test pipe or High-flow cat and probably a bigger FMIC, too.

I put down 433hp with the ATP 3037S and a .82ar. I had 272 cams, AEM EMS converted to speed density, GT Spec Manifold, 255 walbro, 780cc injectors, Apexi 3" exhaust, APS CAI, Profec Type S EBC and 26 psi. I think you will have to change the cams for sure and run C16 to make the power you want. I will be going to 37r or 42r that ATP is in the works on, for reasons I cannot discuss yet. Good luck on your quest!!!!

BTW: Dyno was Mustang which reads lower. If dynojet then you will get that pretty easily with my suggestions for sure.

Make sure to do a full exhaust. I'm guessing you have a VIII, so go with Comp 280s for that turbo kit and alky so that you won't have to run race gas to hit high numbers.

A traditional 3037 turbo kit will spool just as fast as the ATP 3071 but the 3037 kit will make a lot more power.

A traditional 50-trim will spool faster than the ATP 3071 and make a little more power.

This turbo is SUCH a POS. Seriously it has all the lag of a larger turbo and non of the topend thanks to the "Custom" hotside that just chokes that turbo. Get a real turbo kit, like a 50TRIM, RNR has some cheap ones.

Is this from personal experience? cuz i pmed Az3ar and he said that it was a decent turbo. I just would not like to be beaten by a stock turboed car

thanks

You will more then likey get beat by a stock turboed car. These things are that bad with all the lag. It is well known as the worst turbo kit available. They even choke up top because of the "Custom" hotside and don't offer any real advantage and then you lose the low end torque of the stock turbo.

Sell it and buy a 50 Trim kit from AMS/RNR.

For all people that are responding how many actually have experience with this kit???

I am guessing not many, there are just too many people on ANY forum that read and retype what they read. I dont think the hearsay is helping anyone, unless you have experience with a 3071 atp kit dont respond your not helping anyone.

You can hit 400whp on a mustang dyno but it depends on the tune, your supporting mods and what fuel you are going to use. You WILL be about 20 hp behind a true 3071 turbo kit and spool WILL be about 200 rpms later that that true 3071 kit because of that atp custom hotside. For me and living in ca when i open my hood my engine looks 100% stock, thats very apealing to me. The kit quality is very very good most people would be surprised, unlike most of the 4k+ turbo kits out there this one WILL bolt on with no issues. But ....for what i paid for it the gains are well worth it.

Good luck!!

How about some 1/4 mile times for you ATP users, I think Ihave seen a trap of 117MPH on race gas, that's pretty bad.

Post some times and some Dyno Runs.

I was able to make just over 400whp on a mustang with 91 octane, 20psi, using the atp 3071 with the larger .82 housing.

This was on a built 2.4 though, spool was around 3600rpms in 3rd.

Be careful who you listen to, must people here have zero experience but give opinions like facts....

Well I do not have 2.4 stroker but will be running on 97 octane so i think would be able to run a little more boost.

Thanks alot for the info.... But I hope i do not end up loosing to a stock turbo evos.

Good Luck either way but maybe some people could post some 1/4 mile times from their ATP kits.
