Install Complete

First impressions from the ATP install is very good. No problems. Everything bolted up perfectly - the hardware is high grade - fittings and hoses were dead on - dp matched up like OEM. After a few orientation views to check fitment, each piece bolted right up.

I did clearance the downpipe near the A/C bracket because it was a little too close for my liking. About a tenth in spacing between the two. Couple taps of the hammer solved the problem (if you could call it that).

The flex pipe on the dp is a little close to the oil pan, but I doubt it will do any harm. It's actually a much better fit than my old 3" dp.

One great thing about the lift is that I was able to start the car and sit underneath to check for leaks. I also took some time and heat wrapped some hoses and wires. I still need to do a little more. The lack of a heat shield really cooks the radiator hose and w/g lines. I wish someone made a heat shield for this type of manifold.

Driving Impressions

I set the profec on 12% gain - which is 20.9lbs. Let the oil get up to temp and started on some slow roll ons - 2nd and 3rs gear. First thing I noticed is how smooth the turbo is. Very progressive.

After getting out and checking everything once more - I stared opening it up. Damn. Its fast. 3lbs less boost then what I run on the IX turbo (steet) and its feels quicker. And smooth (did I already say that?) The turbo felt like it hit full song around 4300. Which isnt so bad b/c it builds the power so much nicer. I bumped the rev limiter twice. I wasnt used to it swinging past 5K so quickly.

Next thing I noticed is how much better an external wastegate is. I had no spikes - no bleed off - nothing but dead on b/w 20.6 and 20.9lbs. Damn I love consistency.

So whats different? The feel of the car. Gone is the massive punch at 3.5K and the tapper after 6K. Now its progressive and predictable. All this may change after a tune and the boost goes up to 25-26lbs on the street.

So far - I like it. We'll see what the dyno says.

Great. Glad it appears to be working out. When will you be hitting the dyno? And what will you use to tune? (sorry if I missed that somewhere.)

i don't think you will get a reliable EGT where you placed the probe... Those are ports for the ALS on JDM cars.

You are absolutely right. I assume ALS stands for anti-lag ---- , yes?

I wasnt sure what kind of EGT response I would get, but I had some extra ALS bolts and the material is aluminum (very easy to tap) - so I figured I'd give it a go.

My EGTs are 300'C less then what they should be.

Is there a good spot to tap on the header?
