Was it the main or driven gear that broke? Do you recall if 4th gear is sold as a pair or individual gears?

I sheared the teeth off one and damaged the other so TRE replaced both.

However, I do not know which one is input and which one is output:

I can't tell looking at the gears only. Sometimes the driven gear is splined, and sometimes its the freewheeling gear.

ok, I was just now able to figure it out looking at the pics of your tranny guts and TTPs tranny guts. Looks like the busted one is the driven gear.

typically the input shaft is the one with the synchros.

Yep, but it doesn't appear to be the case with MR tranny. If you look at TTP's and razorlab's tranny pics, it appears that 1/2 gear sets have the synchros on the output shaft. Suby 5MTs alternate the location of the synchros too.
